The
Navy Federal Credit Union Visa Signature® Flagship Rewards Card is a good credit card to consider if you like to travel, you’re eligible for NFCU membership, and you have an
excellent credit score (
750+ recommended). The
$49 annual fee is worth paying if you can qualify for the card’s initial bonus. Taking advantage of the complimentary Amazon Prime membership that new cardholders currently get can go a long way, too.
What I Like About the NFCU Flagship Rewards Card
Valuable initial bonus
You can earn
35,000 points after spending $3,500 within 90 days (offer valid between 1/2/26 - 6/30/26). All those points can get you a hefty chunk of change – $350 to be exact, and the amount you need to spend is less than what some premium travel cards require. If you’re going to spend
$3,500 in
90 days anyway, this is a good deal.
3X points on travel
This is a higher earning rate than some of the most popular travel rewards cards will give you, and it’s nearly triple the market average. If you travel frequently but don’t want to commit to one airline, hotel chain, rental car company, etc., using this card is a great way to save.
More types of purchases qualify for this travel rewards rate than you might think. The list includes things like:
• Airfare
• Hotel reservations
• Car rentals
• Ride-sharing services
• Parking
• Bridges, tolls and ferries
• Timeshares
• Campgrounds and RV parks
• Museums
• Amusement parks
• Public golf courses
So, you don’t necessarily have to travel far to take advantage of this reward rate.
2X points on other purchases
The fact that this card has such a high minimum rewards rate is great news for people with varied spending, as well as folks who don’t want to be bothered with lots of bonus categories. You can earn at a high rate no matter what you buy. Plus, the points you earn won’t expire as long as your account is open, and every 1 point earned is
worth 1 cent, according to WalletHub’s research.
Free Amazon Prime membership
If you already pay for Prime or want a membership but have been discouraged by the price, NFCU has you covered. Just pay for your annual membership with this card, and you’ll get a credit for the cost.
Global Entry/TSA PreCheck statement credits
Like a lot of travel cards these days, the NFCU Flagship Card will give you statement credits for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees every handful of years. Although this isn’t a benefit exclusive to this card, it does make the overall package more attractive.
What I Don’t Like About the NFCU Flagship Rewards Card
$49 annual fee
This membership fee isn’t terribly high, at least compared to cards with fees in the triple digits, but it’s not ideal either. If you don’t qualify for the initial bonus, you’ll have to spend $1,633 - $2,450 per year and avoid interest charges just to break even, according to WalletHub’s calculations.
Not great for financing
This card’s APR is in an awkward middle ground. It’s not high enough to chastise, and it’s not low enough to suggest exposing a balance to it. You should still plan to pay your bill in full every month.
Excellent credit required
Some of Navy Federal’s other credit cards are pretty generous with their credit score requirements. This one is not. You need top tier credit just to qualify. If you want good odds of getting approved, you’ll likely need a credit score of
750 or higher. You can
get your free credit score here on WalletHub to see how you measure up.
