What I Like About the U.S. Bank Business Shield Card

Intro APR of 0% for 12 billing cycles on purchases 

This is one of the longest 0% intro periods available from a business credit card right now, according to WalletHub’s database of 1,500+ credit card offers. A handful of other cards have equally long offers, but few exceed it. So, if you need up to a year without interest for a big business purchase and your personal cards prohibit business use, this can help you save as much as possible. 
 

Intro APR of 0% for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers

Very few business credit cards offer interest-free balance transfers for longer than this, so the U.S. Bank Business Shield Visa could be pretty good at helping you reduce the cost of existing debt. Just make sure to consider all the costs  before pulling the trigger. 
 

$0 annual fee

Low-interest credit cards usually have $0 annual fees, so this isn’t much of a surprise. Nevertheless, it does save you hundreds of dollars per year compared to some premium business rewards cards. 
 

Rewards via the U.S. Bank Travel Center

The U.S. Bank Shield Business Card gives you 5% cash back on prepaid air, hotels, and car rentals booked directly in the Travel Center. You can also get a $50 annual statement credit for spending $5,000 in purchases made through the Travel Center. These rewards won’t change your life, but a lot of other 0% credit cards won’t reward you at all. 
 

Annual $0 ExtendPay offer 

After the card’s 0% intro APR expires, you’ll have access to one three-month payment plan each calendar year. You can use up to half of your credit line for this, and there are no finance charges. 
 

Helpful secondary benefits 

U.S. Bank Business Shield’s benefits include rental car insurance, cell phone protection, purchase protection and extended warranty coverage. These perks typically don’t garner much attention, but they can save the day if a covered situation occurs. 

What I Don’t Like About the U.S. Bank Business Shield Card

5% (min $5) balance transfer fee

This card would be better for balance transfers if the fee weren’t so high. You can find cards with equally long low-interest promotions that have 3% balance transfer fees. From time to time, you might be able to snag a no-fee offer as well. 
 

High regular APR 

Absent interest-free promo offers, you really don’t want to carry a balance from month to month with this card. The regular APR ranges from pretty high to really high, at 16.24% - 25.24% (V), and it could quickly wipe out your initial savings if you expose much of a balance to it for long. 
 

Way shorter 0% intro period than the consumer version

The U.S. Bank Shield™ Visa® Card offers a longer intro APR, but it’s reserved for personal use. This makes the high regular APR on the business version even more important, since it comes into play sooner. 
 

No rewards on most purchases 

Only purchases made through the U.S. Bank Travel Center generate rewards. Other purchases get you nothing, so this card is best when paired with a good business rewards card. 
 

Good credit needed to qualify
