Editor's Overview:
- The Winner: WalletHub
- Mint is no longer available. Intuit, which owns both Mint and Credit Karma, steered Mint users to Credit Karma as a replacement.
- Credit Karma is an inferior budgeting app since it lacks basic features, such as the ability to actually make a budget and track savings goals.
- Both WalletHub and Rocket Money offer a subscription manager, which lets you easily find recurring subscriptions and cancel them if you no longer need them. Credit Karma does not offer this feature.
- WalletHub and Credit Karma both offer debt payoff plans to help get you out of debt faster. Rocket Money does not offer personalized debt payoff plans.
- WalletHub and Rocket Money let you share your account with other people, making it easier to coordinate your finances with people in your household. Credit Karma lacks that feature.
Note: Given that Mint has ceased operations and Credit Karma has been positioned as a replacement, we will compare the features that are currently available on Credit Karma in place of Mint. Credit Karma does not have the same features Mint once had, such as the ability to set savings goals and create a budget. However, Credit Karma does allow you to view your transactions by category and get monthly insights on your spending.

All three apps offer free plans. WalletHub’s free account offers users five different ways to organize their budget, debt payoff plans, the ability to import transactions, and a financial timeline so they can view a summary of important financial alerts, among other things. Rocket Money’s free account allows users to sync their financial accounts for automatic tracking, get access to Rocket Money’s subscription manager, and get alerts for when their checking account balance is too low. Credit Karma’s account lets users auto sync their financial accounts for automatic tracking, but users cannot make a budget or track goals.
WalletHub is very transparent with the pricing of its premium plan, starting the plan at just $3.99 per month for the first year and charging $7.99 per month after that (billed annually). Rocket Money’s premium pricing is not very transparent, but users reportedly pay between $6 and $12 per month. Credit Karma does not offer a premium account with advanced budgeting features. The budgeting features it does have are very limited compared to WalletHub and Rocket Money. WalletHub wins this category due to the features it offers and the lack of pricing transparency from Rocket Money.

These plans let you set a goal for when you want to pay off the debt, and you can see how much you will need to pay monthly (including interest) to accomplish that goal. Even though both WalletHub and Credit Karma offer their debt payment plans for free, WalletHub wins this category since its tool automatically prefills your debt information from your credit report.

While Rocket Money only lets you share your account with one other person, WalletHub allows you to share your account with up to five other people. This is why WalletHub tops this category. Credit Karma does not offer an account sharing feature.

Credit Karma does not offer a feature that allows you to make a budget.
WalletHub wins this category because it gives you the most control over the structure of your budget.

WalletHub also gives you a WalletScore, which tracks your overall financial health. On the other hand, Credit Karma has Credit Karma Money, which offers banking services. That is why the two apps tie in this category.
Rocket Money gives you access to some non-budgeting tools like your credit score and credit monitoring, but it does not provide as many features as WalletHub and Credit Karma.
