Editor's Overview:
- The Winner: WalletHub
- All three apps offer free plans that allow people to track expenses, manage their finances, and strategize how to pay off debt. WalletHub and EveryDollar also give users the ability to make a budget for free. Mint / Credit Karma does not have a tool that allows users to make a budget.
- Both WalletHub and EveryDollar allow users to share their account with others to budget more efficiently. Mint / Credit Karma does not offer users the ability to share their account with others.
- WalletHub is the only app to give users access to a subscription manager, which lets users easily find recurring subscriptions and cancel those they no longer need.
- WalletHub provides the most budgeting templates/strategies, giving users options when making their budget.
Note: Mint is no longer available. Mint’s parent company, Intuit, shut down Mint in 2024 and has encouraged former Mint users to sign up for Credit Karma (also owned by Intuit) to satisfy their budgeting needs. That is why we will compare the features that are currently available on Credit Karma to what you can get from EveryDollar and WalletHub.

| Premium Plan Cost | $17.99 per month | Not offered | $2.99/month for the first year ($7.99/month after that) |
All three apps offer a free plan.
- WalletHub’s free account offers users the ability to make budgets five different ways, create debt payoff plans, view a timeline of important financial alerts, and track their net worth, among several other things.
- EveryDollar’s free account lets users share their account with another person, split a transaction among multiple categories, and make a budget following the zero-based budgeting method.
- Credit Karma’s free account lets users sync their financial accounts for automatic tracking but lacks basic budgeting features like being able to make a budget or set savings goals.
If you want more budgeting features, WalletHub’s premium plan costs less than EveryDollar’s paid plans, starting at just $2.99/month for the first year ($7.99/month after that). WalletHub’s premium account comes with a lot of advanced features, such as access to a subscription manager to track your recurring bills, the ability to sync your financial accounts to automatically track your expenses, and the ability to share your account with up to five other people.
EveryDollar’s premium plan costs $17.99 per month and allows you to link your bank account to track your expenses, create savings goals, and get payment reminders. Credit Karma does not have a premium plan with advanced budgeting features.

EveryDollar does not have this feature, and Credit Karma does not give you the ability to make a budget on your account. In addition, WalletHub lets you split transactions into multiple categories and flag certain transactions to review in detail later.

While EveryDollar’s debt payoff plan is only available to premium users, WalletHub and Credit Karma users can access this feature for free without a premium account. WalletHub has the lead over Credit Karma, though, since accountholders can use the information to make a budget right from their account. Users are unable to make a budget on their Credit Karma account.

While EveryDollar allows you to share your account with just one other person, WalletHub allows you to share your account with up to five other people, giving WalletHub the top spot here. Credit Karma does not give users the ability to share their account with others.
EveryDollar vs. Mint / Credit Karma vs. WalletHub: Budgeting Templates
Winner: WalletHub
| Company | EveryDollar | Mint / Credit Karma | WalletHub |
| Number of Budgeting Templates | 1 | 0 | 5 |
Credit Karma doesn’t offer a way for users to make a budget, and EveryDollar makes you use the zero-based budgeting method. WalletHub, on the other hand, has several different templates/strategies that you can use, letting you build your budget with the 50/30/20 rule, the pay-yourself-first strategy, envelope budgeting, or micro-envelope budgeting. You can also use simple budgeting if you just want to budget with your total income and expenses only. Plus, if you want to incorporate zero-based budgeting, you can reference the “Remaining” field in your budget summary when you log into your WalletHub account.
Having multiple options allows users to pick the budget method that works best for them. This is why WalletHub wins this category.
