I recently had to cancel an auto policy before it even took effect. I was changing insurance companies and going with Esurance. Before the policy too effect I replaced one of my vehicles with the same make and model just 3 years newer. The agent told me the policy would go Fromm $1100 to $1700 for 6 months. I said that can’t be. Oh yes sir that’s the new rate. I tried to convince her otherwise but she insisted. In that case, I said, cancel the policy! I, of course, in the interim put the new car on my old policy…. The rate went up $40 for 6 months.

Overall, Esurance may be great on rates, but when it comes time to submit a claim, it's not so good. We filed a claim on the app. They contacted us, and someone very nice came out and took pictures. However, the trouble started with the claims adjuster. They had a very rude attitude from the beginning. On top of that, we couldn't get an answer in a timely manner. We placed numerous calls and wrote numerous emails before the adjuster would answer. We could never get anyone on the phone. We were left hanging about the rental car and responding to the collision center.

I have not had to ever make a claim. I've not been involved in an accident during my time with them, yet my rates are exorbitant. It's very true that loyalty is non-existent with insurers. Also, the representative informed me that there could have been a cancellation fee if it weren't for the fact that I was switching to another insurer under the Allstate umbrella. 1) Esurance doesn't realize I don't pay for things that don't provide value to myself or my household, and 2) How do you charge someone a fee for canceling a month-to-month policy? If there are cancellation fees, that should be in bold when doing a policy renewal, as this was never made clear. Put it out there in bold, not in fine print. Just scamming again. Done with Esurance.

This company is the worst at communication. Each representative I have spoken with regarding my claim is rude. They have difficulty communicating without trying to belittle. Honestly, I would not call if I did not have concerns, and as a claims representative, your job is to reassure your clients that you have their best interest at heart. The phone calls go straight to voicemail, and when you do manage to speak to someone, you're met with resistance or prompts to contact your claims rep. Honestly, I wouldn't attempt to contact other parties if I could get in touch with my claims rep. "Well, did you press 0 before the voicemail ended to be transferred to the next claim rep?" Yes, and the message states my claim rep does not have this feature set up. A lot of misinformation is given. Even more disrespect. You would think you are paying your monthly bill for guidance, reassurance, and understanding. What you are paying for is a lack of support.

Major Pro: low price. Major Con: they don't want to cover anything. The claims adjuster agreed to send a check that would only cover 10% of the repairs. When you inquire about the check, they either stopped payment on it or decided not to send it and conveniently don't inform the customer. The restoration company that they recommended was also dishonest. They are counting on you not knowing anything about home construction and essentially just want to sell you a new roof, whether you need one or not. Two people came out to my house, and one of them physically ripped some pieces of wood out of my attic. They did additional damage on top of my existing damage. Clearly, the wood in my attic had been used for concrete framing for the driveway; they tried to claim it was water damage. If you need low-priced homeowners insurance that won't cover any repairs, then this is the company for you. Otherwise, I would stay far away.

Bought a used car on Saturday night, 17 May 2025. Before driving the car home, I had my wrecked car removed and the new car added to my insurance. Neither happened, so I had to call on Saturday, and now there are excuses about the renewal date. Sunday morning, it was the same; I can't confirm, and my "proof cards" still show the old vehicle and not the new one. Okay, maybe it takes a while, but here we are on Monday morning, 19 May 2025, and I still don't want to risk not being able to prove insurance. I called the parent company, Allstate, to try and get some help, but they were ineffective. Instead of waiting 10 more minutes, now at 0650, and getting an agent at 0700 EASTERN, I had to wait another hour and be late for other appointments so I could fit into the 0700 CENTRAL phone center hours. I've been on hold for over 10 minutes, pretending to make a new claim with Allstate just to speak to a person. The representative that answered the phone said she couldn't hear me or we had phone issues, then complained because I raised my volume a bit so she could hear me and accused me of shouting at her. It's been a total mess from top to bottom. Edit: The company using the renewal date excuse is now going to charge me a $50 cancellation fee after failing to ensure I have proof of insurance, leading me to go to a company that instantly provided proof of insurance so I can legally drive my vehicle.

It seems as if they only work on their time. I can't properly get an answer; my car has been in the shop for 3 weeks, and I have to go without my car during a holiday weekend because they only have one person who can review documents or see about a car in my area. I was told he had 10 other people before they got to mine and was told I was unable to get a rental due to a mistake that was made on Esurance's end. Very unhappy, thinking about canceling.

A complete joke. I don't know how Esurance can stay in business. They don't assign an adjuster. They do not handle your claim, don't answer their phone, or respond to emails. They don't do anything once they have your premium. It's been four months since my accident, and they haven't even arranged for a property damage appraisal. Stay as far away as you can. I would rate them a zero if I could.

The absolute worst car insurance company we've ever had. They try their best to avoid paying for damages, which then delays the collision repair while putting the blame on the collision shop. The adjusters make accusations and have no compassion. They assign you a claims representative who will be on vacation within days of your claim and who won't communicate, then they mistakenly assign you a new representative. Our vehicle has been at a collision shop for 10 days, and it's finally being worked on. They also won't always fight for your deductible when they know the other party (a car wash) is at fault. Stay away and pay more for a company that has more compassion.

"My one-star review is based on my experience with the company. The key points relate to the values and integrity of the company's employees. In 2019, I was involved in a minor bumper-to-bumper accident, where there were no injuries and no visible damage to the vehicles occurred. A Police Officer who responded confirmed the vehicles had no visual damages. I took pictures of both vehicles the night of the accident, especially because I noticed the other vehicle had on the rear side panel what appeared to be bodywork performed due to a previous accident. As a responsible person, I exchanged my information with the driver of the other vehicle. A couple of days later, an Esurance accident adjustor contacted me about the accident. The Esurance employee asked me for details about the accident because the driver of the other vehicle had allegedly claimed damages to his vehicle. I provided Esurance with copies of the pictures I took the night of the accident via email. Satisfied with the information I provided, I never thought it would become an issue. But in 2022, while renewing my personal car insurance policy was notified that my policy had been increase, requiring a down payment because Esurance listed me at fault for causing over $3,000 worth of damages to the other vehicle. Throughout a long frustrating and research process, discovered that although I submitted photographic evidence that proved none of the vehicles suffered any damages, the driver of the other vehicle submitted pictures of what appeared to be damages caused by another vehicle to the Esurance adjustor. The adjustor used those pictures and a quote from a local auto body shop to approve compensation for damages that I did not cause. This process should not be my problem, but by listing me on official records (Lexis Nexis) at fault for over $3,000 in damages, my insurance company penalized me, and now it is up to me to spend time and money to get the necessary documentation to remove the incorrect information from my records. During this process, because of my inability to renew my auto insurance, my driver's license was suspended for almost a year. Coordination with Esurance customer service revealed that the images I submitted were not used by the Esurance Adjuster. Esurance has a copy of the email that I submitted, but the images for some reason cannot be viewed on their system. Also, Esurance customer service indicated that the adjuster no longer worked for Esurance. I am very disappointed and frustrated with the situation.

They are the least helpful people imaginable. They delayed processing my claim for three months, then gave me nearly half of what my car was valued at. They are a group of scam artists who will do anything to avoid working or paying out money. Having to deal with these bum grifters is nearly as bad as almost dying after their insured driver crashed into me at 50+ mph. I wouldn't wish dealing with them on anyone.

No tickets or accidents for over 10 years, and my reward at each six-month interval was more expensive rates. Once it even increased by $60. I've been with them for 6 years, and my policy started out at $168 and change. When I left, my policy was costing me $319 and change. It basically doubled, and I drive less than 6,000 miles a year. It was the worst insurance policy I've ever had. When I finally canceled and went with Progressive, my going-away present was an extra $19.31 charge for no apparent reason. I canceled well before my policy was due to renew, and they didn't have the authority to debit this amount from my account. Do not trust these individuals for a second; they are not trustworthy. Find someone else who is far more reputable. Please do yourself a favor.

Esurance is the worst! Do not recommend. After cancelling car insurance in May 2024, we were told they would send a refund check. Instead, they sent the refund amount to a closed credit card account and said we have to transfer the refund from the card company to Esurance before we would get our refund. The card company didn't agree with that and will issue a refund check after three billing cycles. Five months of playing games!

I have been trying to get my car back from a body shop for more than a week now. It has been over two weeks since I dropped off my car at the body shop. Since last Tuesday, the 23rd, my car has been fixed, but the payment has not been sent to the shop, and I have been unable to pick up my car ever since. I do not have rental coverage, and I am paying to get to work and other places out of my pocket. This is unacceptable and very unprofessional. It is highly disappointing that being a loyal customer carries no value in return. I have never missed a single payment or filed a claim before. I have never experienced such unprofessional service until now. My claims adjuster attempted to transfer the calls to her supervisor, who never picked up the calls, and the voicemails I left were never returned. Esurance keeps claiming they have not received the supplement from the body shop, but the first payment was issued right away. They have been delaying the payment for almost a week now, and I am the one suffering without a car and incurring Uber expenses.

I had Esurance for my car insurance for four years. It was $70 per month for my paid-off car with the minimum insurance required by law. I have no accidents, no tickets, am female, and am over 30 years old with a clean record. I always paid them on time. Well, I traded in my car and got a 15-year-old Ford Mustang that required full coverage. I received a quote from my Esurance insurance, and they wanted $430 per month! My car payment was $300, and they wanted an additional $430? Also, note I only drive about 2 miles every other day. I went and got a quote from Geico, and Geico only wanted $120 to fully insure my Mustang. I dropped Esurance immediately and will never go back to them again. I am so glad I shopped around. But really, $430 for someone with a clean record and who has been a good customer? I am still shocked by this.
