After several more hours of troubleshooting with support, I finally received a support ticket (TransUnion Online Service Center INV-8982) in October. I have sent follow-up emails asking for a status on October 16th, 21st, and today (October 26th).
TransUnion October 16th response: I am attempting to get additional information because the technical team responded that your identity verification attempt was unsuccessful due to a 'Thin File' error, and it's an expected outcome in cases like this. This typically occurs when there is limited credit history available. I have responded, advising you do have at least one open account reporting, and a credit score visible and had the ability to enroll in the DSS account. I will update you as soon as I receive a response.
My response: Sounds fishy.
I have 8 open accounts; 14 years, 3 months is the age of the oldest. Both TransUnion and Equifax show the same information.
TransUnion October 22nd response: Unfortunately, I have not received a response back from the technical team. I sincerely apologize.
My response: Thank you for the update (or lack thereof).
Is there a way to expedite this? It's hard to believe a company responsible for investigating, recording, and disseminating credit history can't resolve this in eight days (I'm being generous; it's actually been at least two weeks since we started this situation).
TransUnion response to my October 22nd response: Unfortunately, the technical team is still working diligently to resolve the issue and is currently unable to provide a definitive timeframe for completion.
I cannot believe this technology company cannot figure out how to simply update a KNOWN and VERIFIED user's email address.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS INCOMPETENT BUSINESS MONEY. THEY NEED TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

What is TransUnion?
TransUnion is a credit bureau that produces credit reports and provides various products and services related to consumer credit health and identity theft prevention. As one of the three major credit bureaus (along with Equifax and Experian), TransUnion collects information about how consumers use credit, including the types of credit accounts used, payment history for those accounts, amounts owed and more. TransUnion then passes that information along to creditors and potential employers, which use the information – often together with credit scores calculated from it – to make decisions about individuals' creditworthiness.

How can I file a complaint against TransUnion?
To file a complaint against TransUnion, use the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's online complaint tool or contact your state's attorney general. Once you file an online complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) or state's attorney general, they will forward that complaint to TransUnion. Basically, the CFPB and the attorneys general want to understand what kinds of complaints companies are receiving as well as what those companies are doing in response. TransUnion's customer service representatives will...
How do I unfreeze my Transunion credit report?
You can unfreeze your Transunion credit report by logging into your account on the Transunion website and selecting “Remove Freeze”. You can also unfreeze your Transunion credit report by mail or by calling 800-916-8800.
The freeze should be lifted immediately if you request it online or by phone, but it may take up to a few days if you send the request by mail. It is free to freeze or unfreeze your credit report with all three credit bureaus.
How to Unfreeze Your Transunion Credit Report
1. Online: Log in to your TransUnion account, go to “Credit Freeze,” and choose “Remove Freeze.”
2. By Phone: Call 800-916-8800 and request to have your credit freeze lifted. You will then be asked to provide some personal information including your name, address, Social Security number, date of birth, and email address so Transunion can verify your identity.
3. By Mail: Send a request to
TransUnion
P.O. Box 160
Woodlyn, PA 19094
and include the following information and documents:
- For Identity Verification (provide a copy of one document, such as): a Social Security card, a letter from the Social Security Administration, a military ID, or a Medicaid/Medicare card.
- For Address Verification (provide a copy of one document, such as): a driver's license, utility bill, pay stub, or bank statement.
When you submit your request to unfreeze your Transunion credit report, you can select either a temporary or permanent freeze removal. This is particularly helpful if you want to apply for new credit but also want continued identity protection after your application is approved.
How Long It Takes to Unfreeze Your Transunion Credit Report
If you request to lift the freeze on your Transunion credit report online or by phone, it is generally done instantaneously, though the FTC gives credit bureaus up to one hour to complete the process. With requests submitted by mail, it typically takes three days from the date of receipt for the credit freeze to be lifted.
