Worst insurance company ever! They have no empathy or sympathy for you. I was hit by someone, and they Bristol West didn't try to fight the case. They just said oh well...no one came out to do investigation. I complained about the adjustor they gave me (Heather) and her manger was supposed to call me back...guess what the manager didn't do...CALL ME BACK EVER! This happened 4.6.26 it's 4.23.26 and I've yet to hear anything from anyone. Thanks Bristol West...I'm sure you'll be wanting your payment next month. Don't use these people.

Please stay very far away from these scammers! Stay far away! Bristol West is the worst company I have ever seen! They will make you pay for a policy and find a way to take your money when you are in, or find yourself in, deep trouble! Pure robbery!
This company is a scam. They do not even deserve a 0.5 star. It is so ridiculous that they canceled my policy due to the fallacious reason that I did not sign some application. How on earth can they issue an insurance policy card to someone who did not apply for it nor sign its application? I paid the quote they provided for 6-month coverage of my 2 cars, and days after my policy was activated, they claimed that I was supposed to be enrolled in autopay or pay some additional fees. I discovered today, when I wanted to go for a car inspection and renew my registration, that they had just canceled my policy 3 weeks before the expiration date. I called them to ask questions, and they asked me to go and insure my cars somewhere else. Now I feel trapped with uninsured cars. They should shut down that scam!

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unprofessional service I received and the unauthorized cancellation of my policy. My issues began when I requested to transition my payment schedule from bi-weekly to monthly. The agent I spoke with was unable to provide a clear explanation as to why this adjustment could not be made. After expressing that I would begin researching other providers due to this lack of flexibility, I discovered my policy was unilaterally canceled the following day. Despite this cancellation, a renewal payment was still processed from my bank account. When I called to rectify this, I was placed on hold repeatedly and forced to explain the situation to multiple representatives. I am currently being told the refund and cancellation process will take several business days and requires proof of new coverage. I find it unacceptable that I must jump through hoops to resolve an error caused by your staff. I expect a prompt confirmation of my refund and the official closure of this account.

I had car insurance with this company for about 6 months. I switched because I found a better rate and much better customer service. The staff are rude and unresponsive. When I cancelled my policy, I received a refund. I never heard a word out of the company until several months later when I received a notification that my account was in collections. It turns out they refunded me too much money and they never sent a bill to let me know. They just sent it to collections. When I contacted the company via chat, the representative disconnected the chat when they couldn't provide any answers to the discrepancy. This company is a sham. I'm grateful I never had to file a claim.

Bristol West retained my deposit for a policy I did not confirm or sign. Please avoid doing business with this company; everyone I spoke with was in India and refused to return my deposit. They stated I had to cancel a policy I had never confirmed; even the address was incorrect. So I didn't confirm the address, nor did I sign the documents, and they kept part of the money I had put down, despite their mistake, and refused to correct my address.

My policy was canceled when I went into the hospital. I tried to get it reinstated, but after being transferred 42 times, I still can't get a sales representative on the phone to start a new policy. Their customer service is pathetic.

There were lies, and I even had the calls recorded. When I signed up, I stated to Lindsay on 12/01/2025 that I wanted my payments withdrawn from my credit card on the 3rd of each month. 'Not a problem,' she stated, 'the payments will reflect the 3rd on your statement.' However, I got my January statement, and it states that my automatic payment will be taken out on the 1st. I called and cancelled my policy on 1/02/2026. The gentleman stated no problem and that I would get a refund of $46.21 and should receive it in approximately 10 days, which was nice. But no, they charged me, sent me a final bill, with my monthly fee increased from $122.47 to $168.68 without any details for the difference. BUYERS BEWARE !!!!

Had to work with Bristol West after being hit by someone with their policy. I have never had to work with an insurance company for this, but I can't imagine it could be much worse than Bristol West. They are terrible at communicating; my phone calls all went straight to voicemail, and I had to reach out multiple times to get a response. They told me I could go to any repair shop to get the car fixed, which was not true. I had to take my car to many shops, just trying to find one that would work with their adjusters' estimates. They leave things off the estimate that need to be done to fix the car properly. You will have to waste a lot of time finding a shop that will work with these guys. I am currently still trying to get my car fixed after over a month for fairly minimal damage. Good luck to anyone having to deal with this company.

Please do not use this insurance for coverage. They first sign you up with all the requirements, and then they come out with an excuse to double your monthly payments. There is no say in the matter, so do as the assistant advised—this insurance is the worst ever. Find someone else.i wish this insurance company will shot down.horrible business

I strongly recommend choosing someone else. I have attempted to cancel four times, and they're still trying to withdraw money from my account. I wrote the email with all the required information three times, and talked to multiple people on the phone. They owe me two months of car insurance money for a car that is no longer in my possession. They're not actually inexpensive because they keep taking your money even after you've moved on from them. I know all insurance companies have their issues, but this one has been my worst experience ever!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Worst company ever! Do not waste your time and money. They have been charging me twice a month. I had to submit claims and speak to representatives. They make you wait on the line for more than 45 minutes to see if you get tired and end the call. Plus, they do not charge what is on your scheduled bill payment. They charge you more. Please avoid these guys!

This is the worst company ever. I had a hit-and-run. They asked for all these documents, then tried to tell me they had prior photos of my vehicle being damaged when I have a brand new car. Do I want to withdraw? They kept sending me notices, saying how it's legal for a fraudulent claim. Sir, I pay $459 a month, have a police report; a driver hit me on the freeway and fled. They wanted authorization for the EDR box, talking to me as if they were the police. I gave them everything, yet still, nothing. I withdrew my claim because I can see where this is going, and they won't mess up my record with a denied claim.

This company is very shady. Don't fall for their low quotes because they find ways to add on charges, most notably their $10 invoice fee or $20 renewal fee. If you set up autopay, they don't allow you to remove payment methods or cancel. You can't view statements online, and when you contact customer service, they resort to a bait-and-switch tactic by transferring you to another agent, forcing you to start the process over while they feign ignorance. Reviews are awful, and I wish I had seen them earlier. I'm sending out multiple letters of complaint. It seems they often try to charge your account after cancellation, which explains why you can't remove payment details. They reportedly ruin people's credit. I'm extremely upset right now and will not let this slide. Very shady business practices. I can't believe reputable companies like Farmers or Geico are affiliated with them.
