I closed on the purchase of my home on 10/10/2025. My insurance will be canceled by Progressive by Homesite on 12/20/2025 after receiving notice on 11/10/2025. Their reason is granular loss on my shingles. I appealed this decision with my professional home inspection report that stated the shingles were approximately 15 years old and the roof was rated as being in satisfactory condition. I received 4 estimates/bids for reshingling the roof, and the earliest anyone could start the job was the following spring. I asked for an extension of the dates for this to happen and was denied. Beware of using this company for your home or potential next home unless the roof is new architectural shingles. Don't be left scrambling for new coverage when they decide to cancel you.

Zero stars. The absolute worst experience I've ever had. It was a complete bait and switch scam. We had our homeowners insurance canceled within two weeks of purchase through Progressive. I'd like to stress that it was Homesite, not Progressive, and I really feel that Progressive should discontinue their relationship in order to keep customers. It was like being robbed. They required us to do very expensive repairs (roof replacement and driveway repairs) within a 30-day window. We were on vacation when we received the email notification. We scrambled and returned home from vacation for a couple of days to get quotes. The roofing contractor informed us there were at least 10 years left on our roof, but we went ahead and hired him. There was absolutely no clarity on what driveway repairs meant, so we just hired a concrete contractor to replace the driveway completely. After making all the arrangements and paying almost $20,000 to have them done, they did not stop the cancellation and notified our bank that they had canceled our policy. Of course, the bank asked for proof of insurance, so we had to switch and buy insurance through another company to avoid a lapse in coverage. It was a blessing in disguise; I cannot imagine if we had needed it while all of this was happening.
I would not recommend Homesite for homeowners insurance for any reason. Again, this is Homesite, not Progressive.
Oh yeah, we've never had a claim in almost 35 years in our home.

I will never purchase insurance from these people. I almost did—we moved to Progressive for auto and bundled home because it sounded like a good deal. HomeSite is the reason not to. Once you hear from Progressive that you're not actually insured by Progressive but by HomeSite, your troubles will start. We just had the most stressful week of our lives with them threatening to cancel our policy unless we did X, Y, and Z by an unreasonably short deadline. Luckily, I didn't cancel our previous home policy (I was told this was automatic) and instead managed to cancel HomeSite and continue with our existing carrier. Don't get me wrong, we're still going to X, Y, and Z. We're just not under the oppressive boot heel of HomeSite to meet their deadline. No more aggressive phone calls demanding photos, etc., when they NEVER respond to emails from you. Yippee! Considering how they treat new customers, I think we dodged a bullet if we ever had to make a claim. Now that I've read the reviews of others on here, I'm so glad to be able to tell these guys to take a hike. Run, don't walk!

They doubled my insurance, and I have never even filed a claim. I called State Farm, and it offers better insurance that costs a lot less. I have been a loyal customer to Progressive (from whom I get Homesite) for over 10 years, and that meant nothing to them. They raised my rates without even warning me.

Got my Homesite homeowners insurance through Geico, and everything worked well until it came to paying premiums. I submitted my first claim in July 2025, and after two months, there hasn't been a single occasion where they reached out to give an update. The claim shows closed, but they say we are working behind the scenes, and it is common to close claims prematurely. I haven't been successful in reaching out to the adjuster or their manager, as they have always left for the day or are on another call. Voicemails are a waste of time, as they go unanswered.

Homesite through Geico is Horrible home insurance company, with the help of Geico This company is not ethical or accountable. Geico and Homesite falsely sent my mortgage company a declaration page (I requested quotes from multiple companies to replace grossly inflated homeowners insurance). Geico and Homesite sent a quote more than three times the amount of typical insurance per year. After my mortgage company, Freedom, contacted me, my escrow was at -$11,000 in the negative and my monthly mortgage payment would be tripled. I waited for a refund from “Homesite” that never came; after 30 days they claimed again they sent another check! This Homesite” and Geico nightmare is criminal. It's been going on for three months since this has happened and it's criminal!

Save your money and go somewhere else. My homeowner policy was revised without my authorization. After talking to a Homesite agent about quotes, he came up with several options and asked if I wanted to save one of them while I continued to wait on the other requests. I said yes, and he saved it. Meanwhile, I was still waiting for an email response from [email protected] but received no response to date. I did receive a check from Homesite; when I called to ask what it was all about, I was told that my policy was revised based on a quote saved in their system. What? Who authorized it? Saving a quote does not equate to authorizing the revision of a policy.

I used Homesite home insurance when we initially purchased our home, but I will be switching providers as soon as I have time. Their rate was good, but not the best. The main issue is poor customer service for even the most basic requests. We made some improvements on our home this year, and I wanted to change our policy to include the necessary new coverage. I called once and waited over 20 minutes for an agent—the call disconnected. I called again and waited over 10 minutes before someone answered. For one of my requests, they told me it had to be handled over email. Three weeks later I'm still waiting for the customer service email agent to handle it. Well, if customer service can't handle basic requests in a timely and convenient manner, it really concerns me about their ability to handle claims and bigger issues. Combine poor customer service with middle-of-the-road rates, and I'm 110% moving on.

Terrible experience. After 11 months of discussions, multiple home inspections, a non-responsive desk adjuster, and formal complaints to their consumer affairs department, I had to hire an attorney to handle my claim. Do not recommend.

I was assigned the worst claims adjuster in Jassah Quoi. I'm still waiting for a returned call she owed me 6 weeks ago. In order to get anything done or to reach her, I had to call the claims customer service number so they could call her and connect her on the line. She doesn't return calls, texts, or emails. Perhaps a carrier pigeon is what she requires. It took her many weeks to process the claim, and when she did, she depreciated a 2-year-old roof as if it were 40 years old, overlooked all the siding damage from the hail storm, ignored the gutter damage, and sent a check for roughly $900, which is just laughable. What an absolute joke. We've sent the Demand for Appraisal letter, and 8 days later, we've heard from nobody. Yet again, I had to call the claims number. We shall see if anyone contacts me within 24 hours as promised. Stay away from this insurance company and this adjuster.

Horrible! Unethical, dishonest. I was even threatened by the adjuster. Damages in excess of $8,000, refused to cover more than $1,200. Lied to me multiple times, pushy, and rude. Run away as fast as you can. Look online and see the insane number of complaints. When I tried to withdrawal my claim, they refused and said I was not allowed to. I let them know I did not accept any money, I refused a check, adjuster stated I couldn't do that. Threatened me, raised her voice, and stated homesite will be contacting me, using company as a threat on a recorded line. Lied to me stating it was a down payment for repairs when that wasn't true. Payment she was trying to force on me was final payment and didn't even cover 25% of damages.

Homesite, through Progressive, will deny all claims. The adjusters will not answer the phone; you always have to leave a message. After four or five calls, I had to call and request a supervisor to get the adjuster to return my call. This occurred over several weeks. This past spring, both our house and our neighbor's house had severe hail damage. Both of us filed claims with our insurance. Their insurance company approved their claim, while Homesite denied our claim. The adjuster stated there was no hail damage to the roof, even though the adjuster acknowledged there was damage to the gutters from hail. I will never again use a company that employs Homesite.

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. After a tree fell and damaged the aluminum siding on the back of my home, the insurance provider contested nearly every aspect of the claim. Despite the clear need for uniform replacement, they refused to cover the cost of re-siding the home in vinyl—something many reputable insurers would consider reasonable in this situation. As a result, my home now has mismatched siding in both color and material, which could have been avoided had they prioritized quality and consistency over minimal cost savings.

I have been with American Family Insurance for years and have always been treated with great respect, and the employees have been fantastic. Since Homesite Insurance Company began the underwriting, American Family Insurance has declined sharply in everything from customer service to massive rate increases. The extremely poor customer service only occurs when you have to speak with the Homesite Insurance Company underwriters. Today, I canceled all of my insurance, both home and vehicles, with American Family Insurance due to the extremely poor customer service provided by Homesite Insurance Company.

No, any water from outside the home including wind driven rain and water are not covered under their regular home policy. If a sink overflows that is also not covered but apparently they say they do cover a broken water line inside the home. Four external flooding you would need to be in the National flood insurance program.
