I’ve been a customer with Santander since they opened (I’ve had my account for over 30yrs my original bank was bought out several times and I stayed). Money was stolen from my account via wire fraud. I have notifications so in less than a minute of receiving the alert I knew something was wrong and called them immediately. I was informed because I called immediately the POS who did this never received a penny but I had to close the account I had forever and reopen a whole new account. It took them over a week to replace my money (which was never actually missing) and it seemed like everything was good? The old account was dead and I was told to go back to the bank and officially close it out. Prior to me being able to get to the bank I received another alert thinking the POS was trying it again. I immediately called the bank to inform them and wasn’t to concerned because there was no funds in the account but I wanted them to know this POS was trying it again. I was informed by Santander it was them and they denied my claim and they wanted me to pay them the money (that was never missing). I thought it was a misunderstanding and could be easily resolved. Nope, they began sending me text and email messages demanding I pay them the money. If I would’ve completely closed the account as they instructed I would’ve never known or received the notification of the 2nd transaction. I was insulted, they called me at work causing substantial anxiety and frankly I was furious. I couldn’t concentrate and even loss sleep.
For one I NEVER do wire transfers and wouldn’t know how if I wanted to. They provided no legitimate detailed reasoning. It’s now in the hands of their “Senior Customer Care”. After hours of calls and all the stress and embarrassment of making me feel like a liar if this is not resolved with a written apology I guaranteed them I was going to file a complaint in the local court, have a police investigation opened, report them to the BBB and any other oversight institution. In addition (on the recorded line) I assured them my attorneys will subpoena every employee involved, all voice recorded conversations, all data files and anything else relevant to the case. I DONT CARE IF IT COSTS ME 10X’s the amount, I will pursue this on principle. In addition, I have DOZENS of contacts both personal and businesses who have accounts with them and they are all set to close them if the bank don’t correct this disaster. In their twisted little Santander world they think they have the final say, well that’s not how it works in the USA. I would’ve gave them a minus 10 stars if it allowed me.

I wanted to open just a savings account. The teller told me I had 90 days to add a checking account and transfer my direct deposit to Santander. I didn't want to do that. In fact I would have left the bank and gone elsewhere but the teller had me sign the check first thing. Then the teller informed me that I had to keep a balance of over $10,000 in the savings account in order to avoid a maintenance fee. As soon as I can withdraw my money I am going to a different bank. My advice is to stay away from this scam.

I had an excellent experience with Santander. I was in a financial pinch and needed to get out from under a car loan I had with an astronomical payment. Santander offered me a great refinancing option and lowered the payment to half of what it was. I can admit they were pretty dang difficult to work with in the beginning, the people are not the friendliest and they asked for just about everything short of a drop of blood and were nit picking the heck out of things. However, once it was all set up, I was able to pay online with no issues at all. I traded the car in after paying them for 4 1/2 years and the payoff and closing of the account went perfectly. It was reported timely to the credit bureaus as well. I'd use them again if I had to, but fortunately, I was able to secure financing elsewhere for my new car.

I have a car loan with this bank since 2020, always made my payments on time and even ahead of time. Beginning of this year I lost my job due to COVID and had missed just ONE MISSED payment which never happened ever since I’ve been with them. I explain to them my situation. I continue to make my payments although seems like I’m still a month behind BECAUSE OF THAT ONE PAYMENT I MISSED. THEY OFFERED NO HELP. The agent was nasty nice, you can tell in the way he was speaking to me, he didn’t want to hear me out or half asleep. Did not help me what so ever. Worse decision I ever made getting a car loan from these people. They had no programs to help those with unexpected situations. So ready to finish paying these people off and never doing business with them again. TRUST! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been on time with all of your payment if you miss one they blow up your phone and these agents are not helping. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!

I never ever will do business with SANTANDER BANK they denied my claim that someone used my debit card and spent $600 I immediately called them and then I was told it was denied cuz of inconsistency PEOPLE BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK DONT USE SANTANDER FOR ANY OF URE BANKING NEEDS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR NOW THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I NEVER PURCHASED PLZ PLZ PEOPLE THAT WORK HARD FOR THERE MONEY DONT BANK WITH SANTANDER

File a police report and a civil action at your local court. Subpoena all their staff who handled your case in addition to any and all documents/files/phone recordings etc. Also report them to the BBB and all the other over site companies. You can also contact your local municipality for fraudulent tactics and your local elected representatives

Absolutely, without a doubt, the WORST company I’ve ever worked with. I’ve been without my car for 4 weeks, and still no title. I’m leaving the country TOMORROW and they know damn well my situation. They denied my first payoff because I got a late payment, and on that same day, they reversed that late payment but still rejected it. My “ACH” payment is still pending on their side. I have proof I sent it, all information is correct, and they claim there’s nothing there. They also claim payoffs take only 7 days to process. 4. Weeks. And they claim that the information I have is false. DO NOT GET A LOAN WITH THIS COMPANY. THE WORST OF THE WORST.

Loan Sharks! Santander offers car loans at an astronomical rate. Please beware. Also, please note that any extra money made towards car payments will be applied to INTEREST not PRINCIPAL. Also, we paid off our car loan in advance to rid ourselves of this high interest and they tried to double charge us. Im grateful that bank account was setup only for car payments and we dont keep any additional money in there, otherwise we would've paid an additional $2600. I will never get another loan through them. If I am at a dealership that recommends this loan company, I'll walk away from the car before I use them ever again.
