You can close a Chase checking account by contacting the company online, over the phone or in person. Once you’ve made contact through your chosen method, verify your identity and account information, then instruct the representative to complete the closure.
Before you close your account, confirm you do not have any pending transactions to ensure a smooth transition. Also, download or print your statements because you may lose access to them once the account is closed.
How to Close Your Chase Checking Account
Online – Log in to your Chase account and open the “Secure Messages” center. From there, tell the representative that you want to close your account and answer any questions they may have.
Over the Phone – You can cancel your Chase checking account by calling the company’s customer service department at 1-800-935-9935. You will have to provide your personal and account information to verify your identity.
At a Branch – Walk in or make an appointment at a branch location to close your checking account. You can find the Chase branch closest to you by using the locater tool on the company’s website. Bring a government-issued ID and the debit card associated with the account.
If you’d like to switch to a new bank, you can compare checking accounts here at WalletHub.
