I opened an account with them a month ago. Put thousands of dollars into their Savings and Checking. Did it at the local branch.
Since then, EVERY SINGLE TIME we have made a movement of money out of their account (Two $4.xx transfers to check that it was working, then one thousand dollars out, back to another account from the monthly auto-deposit we gave to Chase), and EVERY TIME I have either tried to get into the account by phone or computer they flagged "suspicious activity". What is suspicious about getting into your own account from your own phone or computer ?????!!!
Then they called us two different times about the "suspicious activity", we answered all their questions, asked them to change the account to my phone number (because I handle my wife's account). We proved who we are both times, told them I handle my wife's account for her, and then AGAIN they called us a week later after freezing her account for "suspicious activity".
I threatened to close my account if this cr!p continues but they don't even care. "We're CHASE, we don't have to care" is basically their attitude.
So since I put thousands of dollars in their account they have frustrated us and wasted out time 3 times now due to "suspicious activity" - all of which were completely normal transactions from one of our bank accounts to another of OUR bank accounts.
So they are ONE of THE WORST BANKS I've ever dealt with (Capital One is the worst!). So CHASE IS THE 2ND WORST!
I will be taking all my money out of Chase and telling everyone I know online and elsewhere - every review site there is! - not to ever bank with Chase.
During the investigation, the transaction time associated with the charge changed—from an initial local time that occurred before my flight landed, to a revised time based on internal system conversion. Despite this change, no clear explanation was provided for the discrepancy or which timestamp was considered authoritative.
Even under the revised timeline, it would have been physically impossible for me to complete the transaction, as I was still inside the airport and had not yet reached the location where the charge supposedly occurred.
The only time my card was handled by a third party was later during a taxi ride, yet the merchant listed does not match that transaction. This inconsistency was never addressed.
The decision relied heavily on “chip usage” without reconciling the mismatch between transaction timing, location, and merchant details.
It feels like the conclusion was fixed, and the reasoning was adjusted to support it.
Very disappointing process for a bank that promotes strong fraud protection.
