To use your Alaska Airlines Card companion ticket, log in to your Alaska Airlines account, navigate to the “Discount and companion fare codes” section, and click the “Shop” button. When you make a reservation, your Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines companion fare code will be automatically applied. You’ll see it reflected in your shopping cart and on the “Available Flights” page. Note that the fare won’t technically be redeemed until you click “Purchase” and review your reservation.
How the Alaska Airlines Card Companion Ticket Works
- Overview: You must make the reservation on the Alaska Airlines website. The companion ticket can only be used for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights. The reservation has to be for two people, booked in the same itinerary. Also, both people must be traveling together and ticketed simultaneously.
- Booking requirements: Both the main flight and the companion flight must be purchased using your Alaska Airlines Card to be eligible. Also, you can’t use a companion ticket with a fare bought with points – though you can earn points on both tickets.
- How to get it: When you get the Alaska Airlines Card and spend at least $3,000 in the first 90 days, you get a companion ticket with a $99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23, as part of an introductory offer. You also get a companion ticket every year on your account anniversary after spending $6,000 or more on purchases within the prior anniversary year. This deal allows you to buy a round-trip coach ticket on Alaska Airlines and receive a second round-trip ticket for $122 ($99 base fare plus at least $23 in taxes and fees).
- Posting timeline: The companion fare ticket earned from the initial bonus will post approximately 6 to 8 weeks after meeting the spending requirement. The annual companion fare ticket will post within the first 2 billing cycles after the anniversary date each year, provided you’ve spent $6,000 or more in the prior year.
- Expiration info: The Alaska Airlines Card companion fare ticket expires 12 months after being issued. So, make sure to redeem it before that happens.
It is worth noting that the Alaska Airlines Card’s companion ticket benefit comes at a price, as the card charges a $95 annual fee.
