The Citi AAdvantage Business World Elite Card offers some ongoing benefits, too, but they won’t knock your socks off. Cardholders earn 1 - 2 miles / $1 on purchases, depending on the category. The card also is good for a free checked bag on American Airlines flights, but only those within the U.S. Cardholders are eligible for preferred boarding and Wi-Fi discounts on American Airlines flights, too.
It’s also worth noting that the Citi AAdvantage Business Card has some tough competition, especially if you’re not committed to American Airlines. There are lots of really good business miles credit cards available right now. Keep reading below to learn more about whether this AAdvantage business credit card is right for you.
Citi AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard Review Highlights:
Good bonus. The Citi AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard is offering 75,000 miles to new cardholders who spend at least $5,000 in the first 5 months after account opening. That’s worth about $1,117.5 in American Airlines airfare, based on WalletHub’s research into the average redemption value of AAdvantage miles.
Modest ongoing rewards. You will earn 2 miles per $1 spent on American Airlines airfare, telecommunications services, car rentals and gas with this American Airlines business credit card. All other purchases will yield just 1 mile per $1 spent. Those earning rates equate to 1.49% to 2.98% “cash” back, while the average cash rewards card gives you 1.17% back, according to WalletHub research.
Free checked bags and early boarding. These are fairly standard features for an airline credit card, but the fact that you and up to four travel companions each get a free checked bag on American Airlines flights will certainly end up saving you some money. Preferred boarding isn’t as valuable, but some Citi AAdvantage Business cardholders may appreciate the ability to get situated before other passengers.
$99 annual fee waived the first year. The Citi AAdvantage Business Card’s standard $99 annual fee is about 4 times the average credit card’s $26.75 yearly charge. But since this fee is waived for the first year, the card’s initial bonus effectively covers its annual fees for the first ten years you have it.
Excellent credit required. You need excellent personal credit to get approved for the Citi AAdvantage Business Card, so make sure to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before submitting an application. Credit card companies care more about small business owners’ personal credit standing than that of their companies because personal credit histories tend to be longer and more representative. Card issuers also hold small business owners personally liable for unpaid balances.
Not a good option for carrying a balance. The Citi AAdvantage Business Card does not offer 0% intro rates, and most business credit cards are bad for financing given that issuers can increase the interest rate on a balance at any time.

This is my third credit card with Citibank, and they have been nothing short of spectacular! They always give the highest credit limits, best promotions, and their online banking is some of the easiest to interact with. As long as you pay your balances on time, getting increases on your credit limit is very straightforward!

The absolute worst "business" card that I've ever had. Low credit limit, random denials, and errors when we try to use it, terrible customer service. Charges take forever to post, and then when you make a payment, payments take even longer to post—locking up your credit limit. It's very impractical to use this as a primary credit card. My managers are tearing their hair out. Don't get sucked in by any promotions.

Citibank has refused to assist with our billing dispute and allowed our card to be charged for $841.28 in unauthorized charges. The card is dangerous and will leave you exposed to hundreds. Lesson learned we will be using our American Express from now on.

Credit Card customer service is horrible. My signing bonus offer was 50,000 bonus miles and a $250 statement credit. In August when I signed on, the representative I spoke to assured me I would see these offers. In September, I saw the 50,000 miles, but not the $250. The representative told me I would see my statement credit on my October statement. The credit did not show. Customer service told me to show them my offer, and then I can have my credit. This was the best their supervisor could do. I emailed a formal complaint to their team and have yet to receive a response. Truthfully, I think other airlines are better anyway. One of their attendants charged me for a checked bag, even though that's a benefit of the card, and she said "too bad just submit for a refund later." Fly and establish with somewhere else.

Citi credit card customer service has lately become a disaster. They have transferred their tier-1 support to somewhere in Asia and that has been a nightmare. The reps are ignorant, have an accent that is difficult to understand, and above all, they are not professional. I recently had an experience where I informed Citi in advance about a large transaction from Dell. The transaction was denied anyway, after which I received a call from Citi fraud department. The caller ID showed “Toll Free” and ironically, “to confirm my identity”, the rep started asking sensitive security information from me. I said you guys are calling me and you should know whom you are calling. I told them I will give you my security info only when I call you. The lady had issues with communication and I had to hang up in the middle of conversation. That day, Citi kept contacting me and I spoke to at least 5 different people with the same result. I even asked for a supervisor but the supervisor was from the same overseas country and I got the same result. Finally, I got really frustrated and refused to talk to anyone outside the United States. That was a blessing since my issue was resolved with 3-4 minutes after I got transferred to US-based customer service. The rep was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. God bless America ??

Three consecutive payments held for review by Citi. I have been a card member for 3+ years, 100% on-time payments with full balance paid monthly. Funds were debited from my bank account but held for review by Citi before applying toward my available credit on three consecutive occasions. I cannot do business when my available credit continually decreases due to unwarranted holds from Citi.

If there's a zero star, citi business platinum select card. I have had a long 20+ with other citi cards. I have no issue with anyone of them except this citi aadvantage business platinum select card. Please avoid this card for your sanity at all cost. I have been dealing with this citi card for 3 months+ with numerous calls and hours. My dispute with a fraudulent charge by their merchant, aliexpress (a front and sham company with a small office in san mateo, ca.)For a return of missing parts was ignored. Aliexpress is u.s. located otufit disguised to make fraudulent charges indirectly on behalf of alibaba in china, it's a scam company to make over 7400+ fraudulent charges just by a simple google search. My last call was on 5/14/2021 with jackie in u.s. again, she transferred me to india call center which doesn't respond to my information provided regarding my dispute with aliexpress which is a fraudulent sham company of alibaba in china. The executive in charge of this division needs to go because someone in charge is ignoring my repeated calls to the u.s. customer service dept. And dispute dept. I am keeping my long-time 20+ citi double card and costco citi business visa card. I appreciate the excellent services of citi double cash and costco business visa card. Aadvantage is also doing a disservice to its aa members by its greedy corporate marketing tactics to associate aa to this citi aadvantage business paltinum select card. I have been an aadvantage member since 1980.
