NEVER GET A CITIBANK CREDIT CARD Actually a 1 Star rating is way too high for the dismal service I have been receiving from Citibank's customer service. I have been a Citibank AAdvantage credit card holder for over 25 years and spent close to if not over 10 million dollars on their cards, however, due to the despicable service as of late I am in the process of obtaining new credit card accounts so I can cancel all my cards with Citibank.

The worst card I have ever carried! They reevaluate you every 3 months and decrease your credit limit. When I asked why they said my credit usage on the card was too high. However, I was under 15% of my credit limit. They have decreased my limit 4 times now. When My card was issued, I had over 8K limit they have cut it in half every 3 months since I have had the card. When I check my credit report it shows an increase in my credit score. in fact, it is much higher than the score they approved me at. I have 2 other credit cards that carry balances on them but never more than 25% of the limit. They said that my balances were too high. I told them it was unfair to decrease my credit for using my credit cards. I have a stellar payment history with no late payments on my credit record at all. I got in touch with the credit bureau, and they tell me that there is nothing negative there. When I sent a copy of the report to CITI they tell me they can't talk about it. It is a computer-generated decision. They refer me back to the credit bureau stating that if there are errors i need to have them removed. I have been approved in the past couple months for credit cards with 15K limits, yet this card is cutting my limit. It confuses me that I have to be "re-approved" every 3 months. After reading reviews on multiple sites, I now see that I am not the only customer that has had this issue. I did get the 13th person that I talked to, who identified as a supervisor, to tell me that they do this to a lot of customers, and she gets yelled at least 5 times a day from someone like me who does not understand, and she has no answer for them. She doesn't know why they do this, but she is given "scripts" of how to respond to customers. I knew they were using scripts after talking to 13 people, explaining my situation and getting the same exact wording on the responses to me. They are the one hurting my credit if anything. When they decrease my score, it makes me look bad to the credit companies- they think I am not handling my finances accordingly. I have spent way too much time stressing over this card. I just paid it off and quit using it. Just not worth the effort it takes and stress it brings. Out of all my credit cards none have ever decreased my credit limit or run quarterly checks to see if I still qualify to have the card. They all see my steller payment history and know that I handle my credit card limit with in 15% of my limit to keep my debt ratio in a healthy place.

Exactly what happened to me. Had a 4500 limit and was using 2000 of it and they lowered my limit to 2000 so now I'm using all my available credit!!! Never again!!!

I wish I could give less than one star. My card information got stolen and they refunded all the fraud charges, but then after about a week they charged me for the charges again, I had to call again. They did this two more times. Recharging me thousands of dollars of the fraud charges. Customer service is impossible to get ahold of and to understand. Local branches of citibank won't help with this credit card so you have to wait for hours fighting to communicate with the services over the phone. Embarrassing that American Airlines is connected with this garbage bank.

They misrepresent their promotions and don’t award the rewards they claim to offer. When you contact them to rectify matters they tell you the fault is with American Airlines and when you contact American Airlines they tell you the fault is AAdvantage, and no one fixes the problems.

Rates could be better. Especially when you pay on-time and almost always the full balance. I'm a tad bit disappointed at my credit limit increase.

I have been an AAdvantage membership since 1980. I was satisfied when Citi AAdvantage customer service was in U.S. Now, the customer service outsourced to India. I was unhappy with my calls to this change of customer service just to save money on outsourcing to a 3rd world customer service country and culture. Recently, I was misled to apply for a business AAdvantage world elite master card by having verified my eligibility for the bonus miles. I went to great pains to provide article of incorporation, FTB id. number, management contract, and trust documents. It took about 2 months for this process before I received my credit card. During multiple calls, I was repeatedly assured that I was eligible for the bonus miles by the credit card processing team because this time it's a business credit card not my personal card in 2019. After having met the spending amount requirement within 4 months, I was told that I was not eligible for the bonus miles. It would take 48 months since my last AAdvantage credit card. I am closing my account due to this marketing deception by a 3rd world culture which has no idea how to garner customer loyalty. APPLICANTS BEWARE OF THIS DILEMMA OF A 1ST WORLD CITI CREDIT CARD ISSUER OUTSOURCING MARKETING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IN INDIA TO SAVE MONEY JE0PARDIZING THEIR LONG STANDING REPUTATION !!!!! As a result, I am closing my account today.

Citi is the absolute worst credit card company i have ever had to deal with. Constant fraud alerts that take several hours to remove. They have repeatedly had incorrect information on my account. They refuse to verify because i don't have a home phone. Who still has a home phone? i haven't had one in a decade. how could that be a requirement? they say my cell phone number can't validate the acccount because i have had it less than 90 days. Actually, i have had it for 20 years. This place is a joke. Hours and hours and hours wasted talking to people who are useless.

Wish AA would switch banks already. Citi has gone DOWN HILL! Worst customer service ever, and I've been fighting a duplicate charge for over 6 months and they say there's nothing they can do even though the airline has accepted there was an accidental duplicate and for the banks to refund me. Citi is CROOKED!

Horrible customer service, I use the card online with no problem, in the stores they keep declining me, I have a very big credit line and I always pay in full, the rep. harassed me on the phone accusing me of buying items to resell, wth? Very rude and nasty and asking and stating things that are none of his business. Kept getting disconnected when I asked to speak to a supervisor.
