The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is a good credit card for business owners with
good credit who plan to charge up to $50,000 to the account per year. It’s worth applying for this card because it rewards you with
1 - 2% cash back on purchases and does not have an annual fee. Plus, the cash back rewards that you earn are automatically credited to your statement every month.
Add a low introductory APR to the mix, and it’s clear why the Amex Blue Business Cash Card is one of the best business credit cards with no annual fee on the market right now. The card does have some shortcomings, however. Its regular APR can be pretty high, for example. Plus, it charges a foreign transaction fee of
2.7% of each transaction after conversion to US dollars, which means it’s not the right choice for purchases that will be processed abroad. You can learn more about this card’s strengths and weaknesses below.
What I Like About the American Express Blue Business Cash Card
$250 initial bonus offer
New cardholders can earn
$250 by spending
$3,000 within
3 months of opening an account. For context, the average cash back credit card bonus is roughly
$236, according to our database of 1,500+ credit card offers.
Good rewards, up to a point.
Blue Business Cash gives you 2% cash back on the first $50,000 in eligible purchases that you charge to the card each year. All other eligible purchases earn 1% back, which is barely below the
1.17% average for a cash rewards card, according to our research. So it’s best to use this particular card solely for the higher earn rate.
No annual fee.
Amex Blue Business Cash is roughly
$27.85 per year cheaper than the average credit card offer, according to our research. Not having to pay an annual fee is particularly helpful if you don’t plan on spending that much year after year.
Low interest intro offer.
Blue Business Cash offers an intro APR of
0% for 12 months on new purchases. Reduced financing costs could save your business a lot of money, as long as you remember that the offer has a clear expiration date with a high regular APR waiting behind it.
What I Don’t Like About the American Express Blue Business Cash Card
Far from ideal for financing normally.
The card’s regular APR is
16.74% - 26.74% (V). Not only is that too high to be worth paying, but business credit cards aren’t the best for carrying a balance anyway, since issuers can increase the interest rate on that balance whenever they wish. That’s not the case with
general-consumer cards, however.
Good credit or better recommended.
You personally (not your business) need good to excellent credit to be eligible for the Blue Business Cash Credit Card from American Express. You can
