The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express is a good credit card for business financing, worthy of consideration from small business owners with
good credit who could benefit from an intro APR promotion of
0% for 12 months on purchases, followed by a regular APR of
16.74% - 26.74% (V). Amex Blue Business Plus also has a
$0 annual fee.
The package includes rewards, too, albeit fairly unremarkable ones. So, American Express Blue Business Plus is a good all-around business credit card, but it’s better for avoiding interest than earning rewards – at least compared to the competition.
What I Like About Amex Blue Business Plus
$0 annual fee
One of the best things about the Amex Blue Business Plus Card is its lack of an annual fee. This makes it roughly
$27.85 per year cheaper than the average credit card, according to WalletHub research. That does not, however, mean you should automatically apply.
There are well over 100 business credit cards with no annual fee in WalletHub’s database. Many of them are more rewarding than Amex Blue Business Plus.
Decent ongoing rewards
The first $50,000 spent annually will yield 2 points per $1. Other eligible purchases provide just 1 point per $1 spent, which is below the market average of
1.2 points/miles.
Initial bonus offer
New cardholders who spend
$3,000 within
3 months of opening an account earn
15,000 points. Meanwhile, the average rewards card offers
35,124 points. So, while the Blue Business Plus Card is rewarding, it's not the most rewarding option available to you and your business.
0% intro APR
The American Express Blue Business Plus Card offers a 0% intro APR on new purchases for the first
12 months. That’s about what you would get from the average 0% APR credit card. It could save you a lot compared to normal credit card interest rates. The card's regular APR is
16.74% to 26.74% (V).
Helpful benefits
Cardholders enjoy access to a variety of perks, some of which have been abandoned by other credit card offers. They include:
• Rental car insurance*
• Extended warranty coverage*
• Purchase protection*
• No annual fee on employee cards
You can find the full list and more details in the benefits guide that comes with the card.

What I Don’t Like About Amex Blue Business Plus
High regular APR
The Blue Business Plus Card’s APR could be anywhere from
16.74% to 26.74% (V). It all depends on your credit standing. So it figures that people with good credit will get a rate toward the high end of the range, with the low end reserved for applicants whose credit history is excellent bordering on perfect.
For context, the average APR among credit cards for good credit is
23.46%, according to our research, while credit cards for excellent credit charge an average of
17.27%.
Fortunately, you can avoid interest charges with this card (and most others) by paying the bill in full every month.
Good credit or better recommended
Your personal credit standing will dictate your ability to get approved for any business credit card, and it needs to be
good or excellent for you to be eligible for Amex Blue Business Plus. And since over 40% of people don’t meet that threshold, you’d be wise to
check your latest credit score for free before you apply.
