Yes, you can overpay your credit card with autopay, but there’s no reason to worry if it happens.
Most commonly, overpaying a credit card happens when you make additional manual payments on top of your autopay. You can also end up paying more than your outstanding balance if you receive a refund between your scheduled monthly payment and the closing of your billing cycle.
If you overpaid your credit card, don’t panic. You can spend the amount you overpaid with during your next billing cycle. This is easy to do if you use your card frequently. If you don’t use your credit card often, it’s better to request a refund by calling the number on the back of your card.
