The Chase Freedom Unlimited rental car insurance covers cardholders up to the actual cash value of a rental vehicle paid for entirely with this card. Coverage includes damages from collision or theft. It applies to U.S. and international rentals for up to 31 consecutive days. Keep in mind that, to get the coverage, you must decline the rental agency’s insurance.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited card’s rental car insurance coverage is secondary. If your primary auto insurance policy covers rental cars, you’ll have to file a claim through that first. The card’s rental car insurance may reimburse cardholders for any expenses not covered by the primary insurer.
What Is Not Covered
The benefit does not cover injuries to anyone inside or outside the vehicle. Reckless or criminal behavior and several other situations are also excluded. Non-covered vehicles include trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, luxury cars and others.
How to File a Claim
If an incident occurs, contact the Chase Benefit Administrator at (888) 320-9656 within 60 days. You’ll have to submit a completed claim form and any requested documents no later than 100 days after the incident. You should receive payment within 15 business days after receipt of all documents and the validation of your claim.
