The Chase Ink Preferred bonus categories include travel, shipping, and internet services, among others. Cardholders earn 3 points / $1 spent in these bonus categories, up to a combined $150,000 spent every year. For all other purchases, you will earn 1 point / $1 spent. Points never expire as long as your Chase Ink Preferred account remains open and in good standing.
Here are the Chase Ink Preferred bonus categories:
- Travel: This category includes airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, cruise ships, car rentals, limousines, toll roads, and more. Tourist attractions and boat rentals are among the purchases that will not earn 3 points / $1 spent.
- Shipping: Purchases are limited to specialized merchants such as couriers and freight shipping companies. Purchases at office supply stores that also mail packages do not qualify as shipping.
- Internet, cable, and phone services: Related equipment purchases are not included. Bill payments that are not classified by the merchant in the applicable service category are also not eligible for the 3 points / $1 bonus. For instance, phone bill payments in a store classified as a telephone equipment store will only earn 1 point / $1 spent.
- Social media and search engine advertising: Eligible purchases include social media websites and online search engines that directly advertise a business, brand, products, or services.
