Chase typically does not waive annual fees on its credit cards except for full-time military servicemembers. In some other cases, Chase will waive the annual fee on a credit card just for the first year as part of a promotional offer. Beyond that, the odds of getting Chase to waive an annual fee are minimal, but there’s no harm in asking.
When Chase Will Waive Annual Fees
- Chase waives fees for full-time, active-duty military personnel, in addition to Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Military Lending Act (MLA) credit card benefits.
- Some Chase credit cards waive their annual fee for the first year as part of the standard offer.
- Chase may waive your annual fee if you call and make a case for financial hardship.
- Chase may waive the annual fee if you contact customer service at (800) 945-2000 and request a fee waiver.
Although it's unlikely that Chase will waive the annual fee just because you call and ask, there’s no harm in trying.
