Comenity Bank sends pre-approved card offers to potential applicants via mail or e-mail, and existing customers may receive pre-approval for a new card through their online account. To respond to a Comenity Bank pre-approved offer, visit the website listed in your offer and enter the enclosed invitation code. This allows Comenity Bank to flag the application as pre-approved.
Comenity Bank pre-approval doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be approved for a card, but it does indicate that your chances of getting approved are very high if you apply. Pre-approvals do not affect your credit score, as they’re done using a soft “pull,” or inquiry. But if you decide to apply for the card, Comenity Bank will conduct a hard inquiry, which might lead to a slight, but temporary decrease in your credit score.
The downside of Comenity Bank’s pre-approval policy is that you can’t just check your pre-approval status for any Comenity Bank card using an online tool. Comenity Bank has to make the first move. As an alternative, log in to Wallethub’s credit card marketplace for personalized offers which may have high odds of approval.
