Alaska Airlines Credit Card rewards work by giving cardholders 1 - 3 points per $1 spent. Cardholders can then redeem these rewards for flights, hotel stays, in-flight upgrades, magazine subscriptions and more through your online account or over the phone. Those are the basics, but there are a few other things to know about how Alaska Airlines Card rewards work before you start earning and redeeming.
How Alaska Airlines Card Rewards Work
- Earn rate on purchases: 3 points per $1 spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, 2 points per $1 spent on gas, EV charging station, cable, streaming services and local transit (including ride share), and 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Initial bonus: 80,000 points and a $99 companion fare ticket after spending $4,000 in the first 120 days
- Redemption options: Flights, hotel stays, in-flight upgrades, magazine subscriptions and more
- Methods for redemption: Through your online account or over the phone
- Rewards expiration: Rewards never expire as long as the account remains open and in good standing

You can learn more about how to redeem Alaska Airlines Card rewards here on WalletHub. Keep in mind that no matter how you choose to spend your rewards, it’s always best to redeem them regularly as they don’t do you any good sitting unused in your account. Also, you should pay your balance on time and in full every month, so fees and interest don’t wipe out all of your gains from rewards.
