You can get a USAA cash advance at an ATM, bank, or credit union. You can also take out a cash advance using a convenience check provided by USAA, or transfer money directly from your credit card into your bank account.
For ATM cash advances, you’ll need to request a PIN first by contacting USAA. If you’re doing a cash advance with a teller at a branch, you won’t need a PIN, but make sure you bring your driver’s license or another ID.

It’s also worth pointing out that certain transactions you might assume to be purchases are actually viewed as cash advances by USAA. For example, you will be charged cash advance fees and interest rates if you send money using a money transfer app. Also, buying money orders, traveler's checks, bail bonds, lottery tickets, gambling chips and other similar “cash-like” items with your USAA card will be treated like a cash advance. By making these transactions, you may end up paying the cost of a cash advance without the benefit of cash in your pocket.
Cash advances should be treated as a last resort due to their high costs. You’ll pay interest from the day you take out the cash, often at a higher rate than your normal purchase APR, and USAA will charge you a cash advance fee. There may even be ATM fees if you use an out-of-network machine.
