You can get the AARP car insurance discount if you are 50+ years of age, an AARP member and you purchase coverage through The Hartford AARP Auto Insurance Program. You will also need to have a valid driver’s license from your state of residency and the vehicle registration for the car you drive. You can get up to 10% off your car insurance premium and get access to exclusive benefits such as lifetime car repair assurance, new car replacement and financial help if you get injured in a car accident. The program is available in most states.
Other benefits include accident forgiveness, a disappearing deductible, emergency roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement.
In addition, Allstate gives current AARP members 20% off its roadside assistance coverage, even if they don’t use Allstate as their insurer. Mature drivers, whether AARP members or not, might also be able to obtain a discount for taking a driver safety course depending on the state and insurer.
