You can get car insurance from Geico for a driver with a learner’s permit by either adding the new driver to an existing policy or taking out a separate policy. Most of the time, a driver with a learner’s permit lives with parents or a significant other who is licensed and has insurance. If that is the case, getting coverage is as simple as calling Geico at (800) 841-3000 to add the new driver to the existing policy. This will give them the same coverage as the primary driver.

Adding someone with a learner’s permit to an existing Geico policy might not affect your rates much because the permitted driver only has supervised time behind the wheel. But once they have their license, the cost of the policy probably will go up a lot. That’s because new drivers (especially teenagers) have a much higher risk of accidents than experienced drivers.
