You can use your IHG points to book a room for someone else. Simply enter the person's name and other information when booking the room, and use your points as the payment method just like you would when redeeming to pay for your own stay.
How to Use IHG Points to Book a Room for Someone Else
- Log into your IHG One Rewards account on the IHG website.
- Use the booking tool to search for available hotel rooms. Be sure to select the "Rewards Nights" option to view the rooms available for redemption with points.
- Choose the hotel and room you want and proceed to book.
- Enter the name and other required information for the person you're booking for.
- Review the details, confirm the booking, and complete the process. You'll then receive a confirmation email with reservation details for the guest you’ve booked for.
Keep in mind that when staying on a reward night, you will not earn points on the room rate. However, you may earn points for all other eligible charges, which include things like food and beverages, telephone use, laundry services, and in-room movie charges to your room.
