No, you can't transfer American Airlines miles to another airline. But you can use AAdvantage miles to book flights with 19 airline partners, including Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Finnair.
How to Use American Airlines Miles on Partner Airlines
- Go to the “Book” section on aa.com or in the American Airlines app.
- Check the box labeled "Redeem miles."
- Enter your travel details and click “Search.”
- Look for available flights operated by American Airlines's partners. The search results will include flights operated by both American Airlines and its partners.
- Choose your flight and complete your purchase.
After you book, you'll get an email with all your flight details. Using American Airlines miles on partner airlines expands the routes you can book with your miles.
