Chevron and Synchrony have disappointed me! I was approved for $400, which is somewhat low for me, but I was grateful, especially since I'm finally stabilizing after going through various life changes. I have been paying before the due dates in full and only a few times on the due date itself. Unfortunately, I had to euthanize my dog, so I had planned to pay 6 days after the due date (28th). The minimum payment of $29 was due on June 28th and it was closed on July 4th without any letter sent, except for a reminder to make a payment email. They claim a letter was emailed. However, when I called in, the automated system stated that my account was closed due to my TransUnion report and did not reflect my payment history. I should mention that I did not receive any notice that my account was closed, only an email regarding a payment reminder. When I called in to make a payment, which the minimum was only $29, I was informed that my account was closed. Upon reaching out to customer service, they told me it was closed based on a TransUnion FICO score from May, even though it was closed 2 months later on July 4th. I filed a dispute with the representative over the phone, who came across as very unpleasant and indifferent. It was frustrating to learn that my account was closed due to an incorrect and outdated FICO score and to be told by the representative, with a nonchalant attitude, that there was nothing I could do because it's already closed. This experience has dissuaded me from ever applying to Synchrony or Chevron again. I also wish I didn't have to use their gas, but it seems they are the only gas station in my area.

Received my credit card today. Called in to validate it. Received a link to create an account. The link didn't work. Called the customer service number to create a pin. This has to be done through an automated system that doesn't recognize your keyboard input. Talked to three representatives and two supervisors who couldn't help. The last one suggested I turn off my WiFi and just use data to use their system. Sorry, but I don't do workarounds for automated systems that are not robust. Had another card from the same company many years back because they declined a twelve-dollar lunch that I had out of town. Don't need the card that badly, so I immediately cancelled it. Goodbye!

Their fees will eat you up; they charge to deliver a paper invoice monthly. If you have a slow month and break up a few payments, they will start charging a high-risk debt fee. They like to tack on fees.

Applied when my credit card utilization was 85 percent and was approved for a 1000 dollar limit. Six months later, credit card utilization was down to 34 percent, my credit score had increased by 45 points, and they decided to reduce my limit by 490 dollars without warning. This action lowered my credit score by 20 points. When I called customer service, I was essentially informed that a computer algorithm determines limits and that since I "wasn't using the card to the full limit" I didn't need a 1000 dollar limit. In my opinion, this is really bad business practice. Why should I have to use my entire limit monthly? All payments were made on time and well above the minimum amount due. I'm switching cards and will never use Synchrony Bank, the card issuer, for anything again. Better options are available.

Corrupt company. I recommend against using their card. They switched us to electronic billing without our consent or providing them with an email address. Then they charged us late fees when we never received the bill. Terrible customer service! I would give negative stars if possible.

This card has been great. It’s increased my credit line as well as my credit score. The only issue I’ve had is when I lost the first card, I was no longer able to see/make payments on the old one. Hopefully because it’s been deactivated, but I’m not certain! Hence 4 of 5 stars.

Great card. Discounts on fuel from most co branded stations when using the app. No hard credit pull for credit line increases. They sometimes do promotions with extra fuel discounts.
