To activate an HSBC credit card, call the phone number on the activation sticker attached to your card or go to the HSBC activation website and follow the instructions. One other way to activate an HSBC credit card is by using their mobile app.
Your new HSBC credit card will be ready to make purchases in just a few minutes, regardless of which activation method you use. HSBC does not have a certain time limit within which you need to activate your card, but it’s best to do it as soon as possible.
How to Activate an HSBC Credit Card
- By phone: Call the phone number on the activation sticker attached to your card or the number on the sticker attached to the front of the card. Verify your personal information (e.g., Social Security number, card number, or phone number associated with your application) to activate your card.
- On the website: Log in to your HSBC account (or create an account if you don’t already have one) and find the activation page. Enter any requested security information, including your full card number, the last four digits of your SSN, your CVV and the card’s expiration date. Activate your card as instructed.
- Via the mobile app: Log in to the HSBC mobile app using the same credentials that you’d use to log in online. Tap the credit card activation button, then enter any security information that’s requested on the following page.
Your new HSBC credit card will be available for purchases immediately after activation. If you have any trouble activating your card, HSBC customer service can always help you out. You can give them a call at 1 (800) 975-4722.
