The best cash back credit cards for excellent credit are the Chase Freedom Unlimited, Blue Cash Preferred from American Express, Citi Double Cash and Capital One Savor. All require at least good credit, if not excellent credit at a minimum, for approval.
Citi Double Cash. The Citi Double Cash Card offers 2% cash back on every purchase – unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases. It’s one of the best flat-rate cash back cards out there right now. To get approved, you need at least good credit.
Chase Freedom Unlimited. The Chase Freedom Unlimited card offers 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase, 3% cash back on dining at restaurants and drugstores. All other purchases get 1.5% cash back. Plus, new cardholders get a $200 bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. You need at least good credit for approval.
Amex Blue Cash Preferred. The Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express offers 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 spent per year), 6% cash back on streaming subscriptions, and 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and on transit expenses (including taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses and more). Of course, you get 1% cash back on all other purchases, too. There’s also an initial bonus of $150 after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 6 months. At least good credit is required for approval.
Capital One Savor. The Capital One Savor Card offers unlimited 4% cash back on dining, entertainment and popular streaming services, 3% back at grocery stores and 1% back on all other purchases, as well as 8% back on tickets at Vivid Seats through January 2023. In addition, you’ll get an intro bonus of $300 after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. To get approved for this card, you need at least good credit.
Alliant Cashback Visa Signature. The Alliant Cashback Visa Signature Card offers 2.5% cash back on up to $10,000 worth of purchases per billing cycle, which is one of the more impressive flat rates for cash back on the market. Though the earnings are capped, the cap is generous. There is no initial bonus for this card, but it comes with some enticing benefits, such as travel accident and rental car insurance. You can get approved for this card with excellent credit or better.
