The best credit card for couples is the PNC Cash Rewards® Visa® Credit Card because it’s one of the best cash back cards on the market and PNC allows joint applications. In addition to 1 - 4% cash back on purchases and a $0 annual fee, cardholders get a bonus $200 after spending $1,000 in the first 3 billing cycles.
Best Credit Cards for Couples in 2025
Some issuers do not allow true joint accounts, which means one member of the partnership may need to be the primary cardholder while the other is an authorized user. But an authorized user can make purchases, and both parties will see information from the account on their credit reports. So for practical purposes, it’s easy to treat an authorized user as a joint accountholder. Authorized users aren’t responsible for bill payments, though.
Ultimately, the best credit card for couples depends on the couple’s interests, spending habits and goals. And if you’re getting a card together, it can be a good idea to take stock of your relationship. A shared account may make sense in a long-term commitment, but it’s a risky endeavor for a new relationship.

Any good rewards card would do. If your credit permits, the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a safe bet. One of you can get the card and add your spose as an authorized user to get the authorized user bonus. Furtermore, both or your expsenses will count for the minimum spending required to grant you the initial bonus, which is pretty hefty.

Since there are no credit cards designed especially for couples, I'd say anything with a big sign-up bonus, or rewards would be great.

Anything that will give you good rewards, or a great start up bonus. Since you can earn rewards even as an authorized user, you could take advantage of that.
