The American Express Black Card income requirement is reportedly at least $1 million per year. It’s rumored that you must also spend and pay off at least $350,000 across your American Express credit cards annually just to get an invitation to apply. If you’re invited to apply and you get approved for the Centurion® Card from American Express, you will have to pay a $10,000 initiation fee and a $5,000 annual fee.
It’s important to note that while the term “black card” generally refers to the Centurion® Card from American Express, there are other black cards such as the Mastercard® Black Card that are designed to compete with the Amex black card. However, the Mastercard® Black Card and other would-be competitors fall short in terms of exclusivity and prestige. They are much easier to get, featuring standard credit card requirements like simply being able to afford the monthly bill payments.
