Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card trip cancellation insurance reimburses you for certain nonrefundable travel expenses, up to $10,000 per trip and $20,000 per eligible card every 12 consecutive months, when you have to cancel a trip or cut it short due to illness, inclement weather, or other covered situations.
Eligible expenses include airfare, hotels, and more. To be covered, the entire trip must be purchased with your Delta Reserve Credit Card.
How Delta Reserve Credit Card Trip Cancellation Insurance Works
- Covered situations: Delta Reserve Credit Card trip cancellation insurance covers the costs of cancelled travel due to accidental bodily injury, loss of life or sickness, weather conditions, court subpoenas or jury duty, terrorist actions, quarantines imposed by physicians, and more.
- What is reimbursed: This benefit reimburses Delta Reserve Credit Card cardholders for common carrier fares (airfare, train tickets, etc.), tours, lodging and other eligible travel expenses.
- Who is covered: Delta Reserve Credit Card trip cancellation insurance covers expenses for the cardholder, immediate family members, and other companions traveling on the same trip.
- What is not covered: Your cancelled trip will not be covered if the illness or injury preventing travel is caused by a pre-existing condition, wars, intoxication at the time of an accident, self-inflicted injuries, illegal or criminal acts, for example. For full details on exclusions, read the benefits guide that came with your card.
- Eligibility: Cardholders must pay for the entire trip with the Delta Reserve Credit Card to be eligible. Trips booked with rewards from your Delta Reserve Credit Card are eligible for coverage.

- Making a claim: You can file a trip cancellation insurance claim with the benefits administrator by phone at 1-844-933-0648. You must give notice within 60 days after cancelling your trip, and will need to submit any requested documents within 180 days
