A Mastercard is a card that that uses the Mastercard payment network, and it can be a credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or gift card. A credit card could be on any of the major card networks, including Mastercard and Visa, and it lets you borrow money to make purchases and pay it back later. A credit card can be issued on any network (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc), or no network at all (store cards).
Mastercard can provide some benefits and services to credit cards, which add convenience and security to cardholders. However, the benefits and terms of a credit card are ultimately determined by the card issuer, not by the payment network. So, when choosing a credit card, you should focus more on the card’s perks instead of the network.
