The Discover it® Miles credit score requirement is 700 or higher. That means applicants for this credit card need good credit or better for approval, which is on par with most other Discover credit card offers.
Some cardholders report getting Discover it Miles and other Discover cards with scores below 700, but take such testimonials with a grain of salt. Not all applicants’ situations are the same.
Also, understand that a credit score of 700 or higher won’t guarantee you approval for Discover it Miles. It is a crucial component that carries significant weight when an application is under review, but Discover will also take several other factors into account. Those include annual income (and sources of that income), employment status and your monthly housing payment. Discover also evaluates applicants’ current debt level, payment history and more.
If you’re approved for Discover it Miles, you’ll have access to a great travel credit card. It gives 1.5 miles per $1 spent on all purchases, and you can redeem those miles for one cent apiece toward travel purchases. There’s also an introductory APR of 0% for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers, 17.49% - 26.49% Variable APR after that.
Plus, Discover it Miles offers some perks common to all Discover cards, including a $0 annual fee and 0% foreign transaction fee. Discover will also match all the miles you earn during the first year on your first account anniversary as a new cardmember. Not bad for a travel card that requires good credit.
If you don’t qualify for Discover it Miles, you can always apply for the Discover it® Secured Credit Card. You’ll have high odds of being approved, even with bad credit. The card comes with all the standard Discover card features, including a first-year cash back match.

I was approved with a 645 TU in January 2020. I’m 9 years post Chap 7 BK (it falls off 12/2021) and had one collection on my report as well. I was shocked I got approved. I do have high income and jumbo mortgage so maybe that helped?
Credit line was very low at $1250. If you have a good income and TU of mid-600s, I say throw the dice. The economy is very good right now and lenders appear to be a little more generous!!!

I did the pre-qualification check first. My score is about 630. I had old debt fall off after 7 years, 2 active collections accounts currently.
I was approved for 5k. Very cool. Considering I had a discover card charged off 8 years ago.
I make 6 figure income and run a business. I've been rebuilding my credit for a year now. Have about 7 lines open, 1 auto loan, recent paid off Sallie Mae loan, am an authorized user on 3 of my wife's credit cards. Her credit is 720. Not sure if this helped or not.
We keep everything under 30% debt to credit ratio. I'm on time and have auto-pay set up for every account.
Part of loosing everything years ago taught me to focus on keeping money in my pocket and spending on what I can afford to pay off monthly. Im cash focused these days and comfortable. Wish I learned this lesson in my early 20's.
We only use credit cards to essentially just build our credit and if we have an emergency come up.
I use Credit Karma and Experian credit services. Note, neither have even offered a discover card as a likely approval for my credit. I'd suggest try a pre-qualification check and go from there.
It worked out for me. Hope this helps someone.
