Secured cards are easier to get than unsecured cards because they require a deposit to open the account, which First Tech Federal Credit Union will use as collateral to secure the account. The amount of your deposit will be your credit limit, in most cases. That said, though approval is likely, First Tech Platinum Secured Mastercard approval is never guaranteed.

Unfortunately, you cannot qualify for First Tech Platinum Secured Mastercard graduation. If your credit score has improved and you’d like a card that you don’t need a security deposit for, you’d have to apply separately. Call First Tech FCU’s customer service at (855) 855-8805 to talk about which unsecured credit cards you qualify for.

Yes, the First Tech Platinum Secured Mastercard does a hard pull when you apply for it. This can have a short-term negative effect on your credit score.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to see if you pre-qualify with only a soft pull on your credit. But as a member of FTFCU, you might receive a pre-approved offer from the issuer. Anyhow, your chances of approval are good, even with bad credit.
