Hilton Honors Elite status expires on March 31 of the second calendar year after you earn it. For example, if you earn Hilton Silver, Gold, or Diamond in June 2026, it will last through March 31, 2028.
How to Keep Hilton Honors Status
The expiration extends each time you requalify by meeting the required number of stays, the required number of nights, or the spending requirement in the calendar year after you earn the status. So, if you requalify at any point in 2027, your new expiration will be March 31, 2029.
How to Requalify for Hilton Status
To requalify for elite status, you need to have enough eligible spending, qualifying nights, or stays for your preferred status level. Eligible spending includes charges to your room, such as the room rate, food and beverages, telephone charges, and other incidental charges billed during your stay. Both paid and award nights count as qualifying nights.
Ways to Maximize Your Hilton Elite Status
Earn Elite Status with Hilton Credit Cards
This is often the easiest and most reliable way to maintain status without extensive travel. You can earn Silver, Gold, or Diamond elite status, depending on which Hilton card you get, and you'll keep it as long as your account is open and in good standing. Plus, spending a certain amount each year can upgrade your status.
Take Advantage of Status Match Opportunities
If you have elite status with another hotel program, Hilton Honors can match it with 90 days of Gold status. To keep it, stay at least 6 nights in that time - or 12 nights to jump to Diamond.
Benefit from Elite Rollover Nights
If you earn more qualifying nights than you need in a year, Hilton will roll over the extra nights to the next year to help you requalify faster.
Lifetime Diamond Status
Hilton's Lifetime Diamond status rewards loyal, long-term members. To qualify, you need Diamond status for at least 10 years (doesn't have to be consecutive) plus either 1,000 paid or reward nights or 2 million base points. Once earned, lifetime status never expires - even if you take a break from staying at Hilton.
