The
Hilton Honors American Express Card is a good credit card to apply for if you have good credit or better and you like staying at Hilton, just not enough to get a hotel credit card with an annual fee. This card is worth considering because it has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and no shortage of rewards points.
What I Like About the Hilton Honors Amex Card
Generous initial bonus offer
You’ll earn
100,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points and a $100 statement credit for spending $2,000 on eligible purchases in the first 6 months (offer ends 7/29/26). This is a very generous offer, and it’s easier to earn than a lot of the big bonuses available right now – in terms of both how much you have to spend and how long you have to do it.
High ongoing reward rates
This card rewards you with
7 Hilton Honors Bonus Points per $1 spent at hotels and resorts within the Hilton portfolio, 5 points per $1 at U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations, and 3 points per $1 on all other eligible purchases. That’s pretty good, considering the average rewards card’s base rate is
1.2 points. Plus, cardholders enjoy more bonus categories than some people might assume before investigating further.
No annual fee
The lack of an annual fee makes this offer
$28.25 per year cheaper than the average credit card, according to WalletHub’s latest
Credit Card Landscape Report. This makes the card great for light spenders and people who don’t plan to use it every day.
Complimentary Silver status
Silver status is just one step up from basic Honors membership, but getting it at no additional cost is still a nice benefit, given that you usually have to stay in a Hilton hotel at least four times per year to qualify. Silver status gets you a 20% bonus on all the points you earn.
Low risk approval check
You can see if you are approved for this card with no impact to your credit score. If you get rejected, there’s no impact. If you’re approved and you accept the offer, your credit score may be impacted – like normal with a new card.
What I Don’t Like About the Hilton Honors Amex Card
High APR
The Hilton Amex Card’s APR ranges from
19.49% to 28.49% (V). The rate you get depends on your overall creditworthiness, so people with excellent credit can expect something toward the low end, while applicants with good credit can expect a high-end rate.
Both groups are likely to overpay on interest if they carry a balance from month to month. The
market average for a card that requires excellent credit is
17.11%, while the average for good credit is
23.26%, according to our research.
Reserved for people with Good credit
You need at least good credit to be eligible for the Hilton American Express Card, so make sure to
check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying.
Lots of strong competition
One of the strongest arguments against getting this card might just be the alternatives you’d have to bypass.
