Editor's Overview:
- The Winner: WalletHub
- All three apps offer free plans that allow people to manage their finances and track expenses.
- WalletHub and PocketGuard offer users multiple ways to make a budget. Mint / Credit Karma does not offer users the ability to make a budget.
- Both WalletHub and PocketGuard give users access to a subscription manager, which lets users easily find recurring subscriptions and cancel them if they no longer need them.
- The three apps have debt payoff plans, but WalletHub and Credit Karma offer them for free.
- WalletHub and Credit Karma have much higher app ratings from Google Play and the App Store than PocketGuard.
Note: Mint is no longer available. Intuit, Mint’s parent company, shut down Mint and encouraged former Mint users to sign up for Credit Karma, a company also owned by Intuit, as a Mint replacement. That is why we will compare the latest features that are currently available on Credit Karma in place of Mint. Credit Karma allows you to view your spending broken down by categories and compare how your current spending differs from the previous month, but it lacks the same budgeting features Mint had when it was around, such as the ability to create a budget or set and track savings goals.

PocketGuard’s free account lets users do things like create a budget, sync their financial accounts for automatic tracking, and split a transaction into multiple categories. Credit Karma’s free account lets users sync their financial accounts for automatic tracking but does not offer the ability to make a budget or set savings goals.
