Hyatt Credit Card Rewards
The Hyatt Credit Card offers great rewards, ranking among WalletHub’s picks for the best hotel credit cards and the best travel credit cards overall.
The card starts you out with an initial bonus of 30,000 points for spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. The bonus points are worth an average of $630, according to our calculations.
When it comes to ongoing rewards, the Hyatt Card offers 4 points per $1 spent at Hyatt hotels, 2 points per $1 at restaurants, on tickets booked with airlines, transit and gym memberships, 2 points per $1 on all other purchases in the first 6 months (on up to $15,000 spent), 1 point per $1 on all other purchases after that.
Key Things to Know About Hyatt Credit Card Rewards
- Expiration: Hyatt points expire after 24 months of no activity, meaning that you haven’t earned or redeemed any points with Hyatt during that period. If you close your World of Hyatt account, you’ll also lose any unredeemed points.
- Transfer partners: You can transfer your points, usually at a 1:1 ratio, to the loyalty programs of many partner airlines, like American Airlines, Delta, United and Virgin Atlantic.
- Redemption options: You can redeem your points for stays at hotels owned by Hyatt, room upgrades, gift cards, experiences and more.
- Hyatt member bonus on stays: In addition to the 4 points / $1 spent that you earn on Hyatt stays booked with your card, you’ll get another 5 points per $1 spent for being a World of Hyatt member (which you’d earn even if you didn’t use your credit card).
Hyatt Credit Card Hotel Benefits
World of Hyatt Discoverist Status
Just by having the Hyatt Credit Card, you automatically get Discoverist status in the World of Hyatt loyalty program. That gets you a variety of perks not available to normal rewards program members, such as:
- 10% bonus points on eligible purchases
- Free premium internet
- Free bottled water
- The ability to choose your preferred room at check-in (within the type of room that you booked)
- Elite check-in (dedicated check-in line for Discoverist and higher tiers)
- Late check-out
Free Nights
Each year after your cardmember anniversary, you’ll receive one free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort. Plus, if you spend $15,000 on your card during a calendar year, you can get a second free night.
Qualifying Night Credits
Each year, you receive five qualifying night credits toward the next World of Hyatt status tier. In other words, Hyatt treats your account as if you’ve already stayed five nights at Hyatt properties.
For example, you need to stay an additional 20 nights to go from Discoverist to Explorist status, but this benefit cuts that number down to 15.
You also earn an additional two qualifying night credits for every $5,000 you spend on your card.

Trip Delay Reimbursement

- Booking travel
- Purchasing event tickets right when they go on sale
- Making restaurant reservations
- Making gift recommendations and purchasing them
- Arranging transportation
- Locating lost luggage
Calling the concierge is free, but any paid services you use through it will get charged to your card.
Contactless Payments
You can tap to pay at checkout rather than inserting your card into a card reader, which makes your transactions safer and speedier.
Instant Use
When you’re approved for your Hyatt Credit Card, you can use it instantly by adding it to a digital wallet such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay. That way, you don’t have to wait for the card to come in the mail to start spending.
Chase Pay Over Time
This benefit allows you to split eligible purchases of $100 or more into equal monthly installments, with a low monthly fee instead of a traditional interest rate. The timelines for paying off these purchases range from 3 -24 months.
For Amazon purchases only, the minimum amount for Chase Pay Over Time is $50.
Credit Building
The Hyatt Credit Card requires at least good credit for approval. However, it can help you reach and maintain excellent credit since it reports to the credit bureaus on a monthly basis. The best way to maximize your credit score gains are to always pay on time (and in full if possible), and to keep your credit utilization lower than 30%.
