On March 31 at 4:59am EST I received an email from Petal that let me know a charge was declined from "dreamstime.com", immediately after that I received another email for a declined transaction from "Sell The Rights For". Around 8:00am when I woke up I noticed the emails and checked my credit card app where two charges were shown, both from dreamstime.com for $1, and $152.66 respectively before the decline emails must have come in. I froze my credit card and called Petal to ask to dispute the charges and have a new card sent. They let me know at the time that I would need to wait for the charges to clear until disputing. I called them back once they cleared whereupon they investigated and sent me notice on April 17 that my dispute was denied. I do not know, nor have I ever heard of either of these vendors. I received another notice on Apr 29th that my dispute appeal was denied. After the initial dispute was denied I received a report that showed the purchase details. The email address used was one I do not own, nor have ever owned, the name was shown as my first and middle name, the address used did not match the address on my card and FAILED address validation, and the IP of the purchase "76.168.99.214" was in Los Angeles, where I have never been in my entire life. I live and work in Brooklyn, NY. On April 28th, I closed my account with Petal because they obviously cannot be trusted to stand behind their customers.
I filed with the FDIC and the BBB, and they are STILL holding me liable for these obviously fraudulent charges.</p>

How can I get Petal 2 Visa Credit Card pre-approval?
You can get Petal 2 Card pre-approval online. This way, you can quickly check your odds of approval for certain Petal credit cards before you actually apply for one. Current Petal customers may also receive pre-approved offers periodically by e-mail or when logging into their card's online account. And in some cases, Petal will send people pre-approved offers for a specific credit card in the mail.
Getting pre-approved for a Petal 2 Card indicates that your chances of being approved for an account are very high, should you decide to apply. It does not mean that approval is guaranteed.
How to Check for Petal 2 Card Pre-Approval Online
- Visit the pre-approval page on the Petal website.
- Enter your email, name, birthday, phone number, and SSN/ITIN.
- Click “Next” to view any pre-approved offers.
If you are pre-approved online, you will see all Petal credit cards that will give you the highest odds of approval, which may or may not include the Petal 2 Card. Once you are pre-approved, you can apply for the card of your choice directly from the pre-approval site. Simply click the button next to the card you want, and you will be directed to the card's application page.
To respond to a Petal 2 Card pre-approved offer received in the mail, visit the website listed in your pre-approval letter and enter the invitation code included with your offer. This allows Petal to flag the application as pre-approved.
Petal 2 Card pre-approvals do not affect your credit score, as they're done using a soft “pull,” or inquiry. But if you decide to submit an application for the Petal 2 Card, Petal will conduct a hard inquiry, which will lead to a slight, but temporary decrease in your credit score.

You should note that while your credit score is an important factor, there are plenty of other things that will impact your chances of being approved for the Petal 2 Card Card, too. Some other key criteria include your income, existing debt load, number of open accounts, recent credit inquiries, employment status and housing status.

What type of card is Petal?
Petal is an unsecured Visa card designed for people who want to build credit at a low cost. When you apply for a Petal credit card, you're automatically considered for the Petal® 2 Visa® Credit Card, which offers rewards on every purchase. If you don't qualify for that version, you'll be considered for the Petal® 1 Visa® Credit Card, which is similar but doesn't offer rewards on all purchases.
