Tldr: Absolute total crap bank, with absolute total crap infrastructure and support for customers. The people in the actual branch are lovely, but the bank itself is WAY behind the times and needs to update it's services and support.
Today, they deactivated my card because I was out of state trying to make a $148 purchase at a Halloween store for my grandchildren's costumes. I was six hours away from my local branch and home area, and one hour away from my grandchildren's home in rural Maine—but it's my home state, so this should not have been flagged as unusual. The purchase was declined, embarrassing me in front of a long line of people and upsetting the kids. I had to call the bank to find out what was going on while my daughter paid for the items with her own money.
I cannot express how often this has occurred. They required me to repeat my mother's maiden name, the last four digits of my SSN, my date of birth, and the last four of my card three times to different people, including the automated system. I am sick if it and once I return, we are closing all our accounts with them. It's NOT ok to decline a transaction for no reason, claiming it's "for my own protection" when it's really just gaslighting and causing unnecessary anxiety for everyone involved.
