Yes, American Express does pay for TSA PreCheck® with certain cards. Eligible American Express cardholders can get up to $85 as a statement credit to cover the cost of the TSA PreCheck application fee every 4.5 years (through a TSA official enrollment provider), as long as they pay the fee with their American Express card.

TSA PreCheck is useful if you’re a frequent traveler because it allows you to go through domestic airport security much quicker. You get to use express security lanes, separate from the public, which should mean less time waiting in line. You also aren’t required to remove your computer from carry-on luggage, nor do you need to remove your belt, light jacket, or shoes when going through airport security.
Keep in mind that these American Express cards can pay for Global Entry instead of TSA PreCheck. Global Entry, which costs $120 to apply for, has all the benefits of TSA PreCheck but also gets you expedited security screening when you return to the U.S. from abroad. Even though the application process for Global Entry is a bit more involved, requiring an interview, it's time-saving benefits at U.S. Customs make it valuable for frequent international travelers.
