The Chase Freedom card points value is 1 cent each for most redemption options. While marketed as a “cash back” card, Chase Freedom actually gives Ultimate Rewards points. Cardholders can redeem these points for cash back, gift cards, merchandise, or travel purchases at a rate of 1 cent per 1 point. Points redeemed for Amazon.com purchases through the “Pay With Points” feature are worth 0.8 cents apiece.
Things to Know about the Chase Freedom Points
- Points value: The Chase Freedom card points value is 1 cent each for most redemption options. Points redeemed for Amazon.com purchases using the “Pay With Points” feature are worth 0.8 cents apiece. Just keep in mind that Chase has the power to change the value of Ultimate Rewards points at any time. So, it’s best to redeem them often to avoid rewards devaluation.
- Earning limit: There’s no limit to the number of points you can earn.
- Redemption limit: To use your points, minimum and maximum amounts may apply. Chase will let you know about any limits before using your points.
- Expiration: The Chase Freedom card points don’t expire as long as your account is active and in good standing.
It is worth noting that some Ultimate Rewards redemption options are not available for the Chase Freedom card. For instance, you can’t transfer points to any of the Ultimate Rewards travel partners’ loyalty programs with this card. Only certain Chase credit cards are eligible to transfer points to travel partners.
How to Transfer Points with Your Chase Freedom Card
You can move Chase Freedom Ultimate Rewards points to a transfer-eligible card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. Then, you can transfer points from any eligible card to one of Chase’s 14 travel partners’ loyalty programs at a 1:1 ratio. Travel partners include Southwest Airlines, British Airways, United Airlines, IHG, Marriott, and others. The value of points/miles from these programs varies by partner.
