The Chase Sapphire Preferred extended warranty protection will add up to 1 additional year to warranties of 3 years or less. It provides up to $10,000 in coverage per claim and $50,000 per account. Eligible purchases must be paid for with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card in order to qualify for the benefit.
Here’s how the Chase Sapphire Preferred extended warranty works:
- Overview: Extends eligible warranties of 3 years or less by 1 additional year as long as the items are purchased with the Chase Sapphire Preferred or with rewards earned with your card. Coverage is secondary to any service contract or extended warranty purchased or received with the item(s).
- Coverage amount: Repairs or replacements of eligible items for no more than the original purchase price recorded on the credit card receipt (shipping and handling fees excluded), up to $10,000 coverage per claim and $50,000 per account.
- Who is covered: The extended warranty covers the cardholder and any recipients of gifts purchased by the cardholder.
- What is covered: Eligible items with a valid original manufacturer-written U.S. repair warranty of 3 years or less and eligible gifts purchased with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Eligible items purchased outside the U.S. are also covered as long as they are purchased with your card and have a manufacturer written U.S. repair warranty of 3 years or less, a store-purchased dealer warranty, or an assembler warranty.
- What is not covered: Excluded items include motorized vehicles, items purchased for resale or commercial use, used or pre-owned items, and computer software, among others. To view the full list of excluded items, consult the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card’s guide to benefits.
- How to file a claim: To file a Chase Sapphire Preferred extended warranty claim, first notify the Benefit Administrator by calling at (888) 320-9961 within 90 days of the incident. Once you’ve notified the Benefit Administrator of the product’s failure, you will receive a claim form in the mail. Alternatively, you can file a claim online. You should submit the completed claim and supporting documentation (such as receipt copies and original warranty) within 120 days of the item’s failure.
When the claim is verified, the item will be repaired or replaced at the Benefit Administrator’s discretion. You should be reimbursed within five business days of receipt and approval of all documentation.
Keep in mind that exclusions and coverage limits might apply to this benefit. So, make sure to check your Chase Sapphire Preferred Card’s guide to benefits for more details.
