Yes, American Express® Gold Card and American Express Platinum Card® points combine, allowing you to pool rewards into one account. Once you have both the Amex Gold Card and Platinum Card®, your Membership Rewards® Points will automatically link, and any points earned on either card will accumulate into a single account. Gold and Platinum business card points also combine.
If you’re not seeing the points pooling together, you can contact customer service at (800) 528-4800, or the number you see on the back of your card. A representative should be able to help resolve the issue and ensure your accounts are correctly linked.
While the ability to pool points is a great feature, it’s worth considering the costs versus the benefits of holding both types of cards. For example, the Amex Gold Card and Platinum Card® have substantial annual fees ($325 and $895, respectively). Although both cards offer valuable perks, it may not always make sense to pay for both. If you’re not fully utilizing the benefits of each card, it might be worth keeping only one, to avoid unnecessary fees.
