IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card rewards work by giving cardholders 3 - 10 points per $1 spent. Cardholders can then redeem these rewards for hotel stays, experiences, shopping, magazine subscriptions and more through your online account or over the phone. Those are the basics, but there are a few other things to know about how IHG Premier rewards work before you start earning and redeeming.
How IHG Premier Rewards Work
- Earn rate on purchases: 10 points per $1 spent at IHG hotels, 5 points per $1 at gas stations, restaurants and on travel, as well as 3 points per $1 on all other purchases
- Initial bonus: 80,000 bonus points for spending $2,000 in the first 3 months
- Redemption options: Hotel stays, experiences, shopping, magazine subscriptions and more
- Methods for redemption: Through your online account or over the phone
- Rewards expiration: After 12 months of inactivity
- Average value of 1 point: 0.66 cents
You can learn more about how to redeem IHG Premier rewards here on WalletHub. Keep in mind that no matter how you choose to spend your rewards, it’s always best to redeem them regularly as they don’t do you any good sitting unused in your account. Also, you should pay your balance on time and in full every month, so fees and interest don’t wipe out all of your gains from rewards.
