The World Elite Mastercard annual fees typically range from $99 to $1,199, depending on the card. Although most World Elite Mastercard credit cards do charge a fee, Mastercard does not determine annual fees because it does not issue its own cards. Instead, the banks and credit unions that issue credit cards on the Mastercard network decide the fees. The purpose of an annual fee is to reduce the cost of the card’s rewards and benefits for the issuer.
To put the range of World Elite Mastercard annual fees in perspective, the average annual fee among all new credit card offers is $26.75. Some cards charge no fee at all, while others charge a lot.

The World Elite Mastercard annual fee is $89-$99 in most cases. One of the best World Elite Mastercards is the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®, which has a $0 annual fee the first year and an annual fee of $99 after that. The card also offers an initial bonus of 50,000 miles, reasonable ongoing rewards and lots of travel benefits.
In general, World Elite Mastercards tend to offer more valuable perks than regular or World Mastercards. That includes better travel insurance coverage or exclusive discounts on travel services. However, it’s up to credit card issuers to decide what benefits each individual card has, so some World Elite Mastercards will offer more value for the annual fee than others.
