No, you cannot get collision insurance without comprehensive insurance in most circumstances. While both types of coverage are optional under the law, most insurers will not sell collision and comprehensive coverage separately, and your lender or lessor will likely require both types of insurance if your car is financed.
Possible Exceptions to the Rule
In rare cases, consumers may be able to get comprehensive insurance without collision insurance. This would most likely be the case if your car is in long-term storage and you do not plan on driving it again soon.
However, you cannot purchase collision insurance without comprehensive insurance.
What Collision and Comprehensive Cover
Collision insurance helps cover damage to your vehicle after collisions with other vehicles, trees, fences, or other objects while driving. Comprehensive insurance helps cover damage to your car caused by incidents beyond your control, such as a tree falling on your car.
