Amazon.com Store Card Highlights
Only rewarding for Prime members
Prime members earn 5% back at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market purchases made with the Amazon Store Credit Card. Cardholders who don’t have Prime don't get anything besides the card's standard $60 sign-up bonus, though they do benefit from the ability to build credit and pay with plastic. You need only “fair” credit to get approved, and you can check your credit score for free on WalletHub to see if you’ll qualify.
No annual fee (besides Prime dues)
Whether you plan to use the Amazon.com Store Card for earning rewards or improving your credit score, not having to pay an annual fee is definitely a plus. Prime membership costs $139 per year.
Only for Amazon.com purchases (but that’s enough)
If you have Prime, you probably buy all sorts of things on Amazon. It might even be your biggest spending category. And the Amazon Prime Store Card (what it’s called for members) gives you an indefinite 5% off sale. So it’s definitely worth it. You just need to pair it with a Visa or Mastercard that allows you to maximize the rewards you earn on all of your other purchases.
Don’t use it for financing
The Amazon Store Card offers 0% financing for 6 to 24 months, depending on what you buy and how much it costs. But you should turn it down because it includes a dangerous feature called “deferred interest.” Basically, interest can retroactively apply to your entire original purchase amount if you pay your bill a day late or have a balance remaining at the end of the 0% period.

Applied and was given a $3,000 limit. I've had it for years, with my credit score constantly improving during that time. They raised it without my asking to $6,000. I put a big-ticket item on it and am now paying it down in big chunks, but they're lowering my credit limit by that amount every time I make a payment. This shows a high percentage of credit usage on that card. I will be paying it off and canceling that account. I know it will hurt my credit score because it will shorten the length of my longest account average, as I've had it for so long, but I don't care. I'm over 700 and I'll take the hit to make a statement. Synchrony is not the only one losing out on the high interest I've been paying; Amazon is going to lose a customer as well due to guilt by association. It's clear that Amazon is aware of the situation.

This is legitimately a scam. I was never late or missed a payment. My credit limit of $3000 was cut to $1500. Then, as I paid down debt, they lowered my credit limit, making it look like I am using 100% of my credit. They used that against me to deny me credit. Other cards raised my credit; I was approved for $2500 for a different new card. Synchrony has pulled this scam on me twice. I got a JCPenney card, upgraded to Penney's Gold card, but my credit was subsequently lowered to show 100% usage of my card with Amazon and Walmart/Sam's Club. Walmart cut ties with them after discovering the scam. They can take a 750 credit score and reduce it to a 610 by lying to the credit bureau. With 8 cards from this company, I was never late nor missed a payment. Synchrony starts off well in year one, but by year two, they cut your credit, and by year three, you want to pay off and cancel the card. Amazon may not know. I legitimately would have bought more stuff, but it was charged to a different card or debit. Synchrony is a scam and a rip-off. I'm still waiting for an explanation from the India call center to explain why, including the lies. Synchrony will lie to your face.

Same. Opened the account they offered me $3,000 then raised it to six without me asking. Bought a couple of Big Ticket items. Credit score constantly going up yet every time I pay it down now they reduce the credit limit and it's back down to 3,000. Guess they don't want me as a customer. With the high interest rate that's okay I've got six other credit cards I can use so it's synchrony and because I won't be shopping on Amazon as much Amazon's loss as well.

Slow to process payments. Even five business days after payment posting, they still had not applied it to my balance. Limits the number of payments you can make monthly.

Do not get this card! They ruin your credit and then lower your credit limit without warning. This whole company is terrible; don't bother with this headache. They are greedy individuals who will mess up your life in an instant to put more money in Bezos' pocket.

After suffering a breach on two of my bank accounts, I had to rearrange my payment method, and I clearly explained this to these people. Despite that, through their own improper billing errors and their refusal to correct the problem, they cut my credit limit by three-quarters, knowing full well that they were doing so inappropriately.

That is their scam. We need to file a class action. A billion out of their pocket will make them cut out the lies they tell and the cuts they illegally impose to ruin your credit.

This is the worst card to have. I started off with a $1,378 credit limit and payoff. They changed it from $1,378.00 to now a limit of $602.00. I always pay on time. My credit score is 722. There is no reason for that change.

Synchrony Bank is awesome. I love their excellent customer service. However, the Amazon Store Card was an awful experience. I returned a rug, and instead of crediting my card, they put the refund on a gift card. When I contacted Amazon, they told me three different times it would be taken care of. However, they did not follow through. After a phone call, they requested a bunch of information that I had already given three times in chats, and I still did not receive a refund to my card. I gave up. I am paying off the card soon and have already shredded it. The customer service from Amazon regarding this card was terrible.

Synchrony is terrible! Pain in the neck! They are constantly calling and driving you to madness. Credit should not cause harm, yet this has become a definite thorn in my side. I will never get another credit card that involves Synchrony again.

They lowered my card limit for no reason. I've been on time every month and they reduced it from $400.00 to $100. I will just cut this card up and consider it a loss.
